Hmm. Well, for the purposes of the visa application, it's quite possible that you won't require a fingerprint check anyhow. A name check usually suffices, and that was done (for me) in about ten minutes. I live here, of course.

I don't know anything about your visa situation though, so no-one from here can really help you beyond that, I don't think.

A few people have had to do this, and I think they say it could take up to 120 days. The few I remember getting theirs done this way, maybe waited around 75 days. How long have you been waiting?

im JUST about to request for it....but I am hoping to leave Japan by mid APril of next year. fingers crossed!

Could you also provide for a Canadian address to have the prints sent to you? If you know someone in Canada that could receive them, and you'll be on your way there anyway in April, best to make sure you have them. I guess the alternative is, if you have someone there that you trust will send them to you, if they don't arrive before you leave.

I have my fingers crossed for you!

Hi getcr1,

I'm a bit confused about your situation.

I know from reading your posts that you are currently living in Japan and that you are going to DCF in Tokyo. However, you mentioned in one of your posts that you have a 'fiance' - which means you aren't married yet?

When are you getting married? I ask because that will affect when you can apply and therefore whether or not April will be a possibility in terms of your timeline.

You can't apply until you get your marriage certificate, how long does that take where you are getting married?
