Would it be better to wait until we are both working?

Hi guys.

I'm filling in the g-325a and my fiancée is filling in hers and her i-129f form.

However, I am currently in temporary Xmas (til Jan 2nd) work and don't know if I'll find a job again straight afterwards, and she is also between jobs (having visited me here recently, she kind of put stuff on hold).

Money isn't exactly a problem on either end, because of our (very cheap :D) lifestyles, but I'm not so sure the government would see it that way.

Would it be best to wait until we are both (or at least one of us is) in permenant work, or should we just bite the bullet and get these done now? I'm not sure how they'll look upon the fact neither of us are working right now.

Thanks.

one of the criteria for k-1 is being able to support ur s/o.........and you have be be able to prove it or have a sponsor that will show proof of support.....if the USA person can not meet the poverty guild lines or find someone that can it will be very hard to get approval of k-1

Welcome to VJ...

For most couples - at least the US Citizen should be working/earning an income (at least by the time the visa interview comes around). The foreign fiancé doesn't need to be working.

You don't have to prove to USCIS that the USC is working for the petition-stage, but you do have to show evidence of income for the interview-stage. So it is up to you, if you think you can find work in the months between these two stages of the process.

I think most will agree that it can be a lot smoother visa process if the petitioner (the USC) is employed earning at least at/over the minimum requirements. Not to say it can't be done otherwise, because it can (its just less stressful).
