Suggestions for places to visit with my fiance

Hi everyone. I am just beginning the k1 visa process and this website has been so helpful :) I am from the US and my fiance is from Colombia. We met in Jamaica and visited each other 3 times while he was working there, and I have been to Colombia a few times to visit. We both love traveling, so we are trying to decide where we could go next while we wait for the visa to get approved (hopefully :)). Does anyone have any suggestions of vacation spots that are relatively inexpensive and also where a Colombian can go with a passport (or where it is easy to get a tourist visa?) Any personal experience or recommendations would be helpful. We were hoping to find some places where we could meet half way, that way we could see each other more often. Thanks for your help!

Panama is an option or any other country in South America, but I don't know how "inexpensive" that may be.

Thank you for the reply. We also looked into Panama :) I think that we are probably going to end up meeting there next!

Brazil's northeast is a beautiful place, and fairly inexpensive for him. (I don't know what it costs to get to Colombia, but it's cost between $500 and $800 for me to fly there from O'Hare.)

As I recall, when we looked at places to travel, the cheapest place for us to go that wasn't in Brazil was Europe. It was quiet odd, but the places where it was really cheap for me to fly (in South America) was very expensive for him or vice versa. We had talked about going to Buenos Aires or Chile instead of Recife, but it was going to cost almost double the airfare between our flights... but both of us flying to Italy would have cost roughly the same (but would have been a little more expensive, living-expense wise).

Wow, $500-800 is not bad. I am definitely going to look up flights to Brazil. Ohhh, and I didn't even think about looking at Europe. I will have to do that. I just wonder how easy it is for my fiance to get a tourist visa there? I'll do some more research. Thanks so much for the reply :)

IIRC, he doesn't need a visa, but you do (and it's trivial - buy your plane tickets, get a passport photo taken, mail a $131 money order with a printout of the application to the local consulate with your passport, and you'll get your passport back in about a week with a multi-entry visa... just do this 30-60 days before your trip -- you have to validate your visa within 90 days, and then it's good for 5 years).
