Hello guys...this is Luis, I neeed your help again...

What is notarizing exactly? What exactly do I need to get notarized? I mean I will make copies of my bank statment wich is already signed by the bank employees, do those need to be notarized? Can't I send those originals?. I also need to have my tax return copies signed and notarized? and my check stubs do those have to be copied and notarized? Also, since I live in Puerto Rico my tax return is in spanish...and in the brasillian consulate everything has to be in english, so I have to translate those? I have the withholding statements those are in english...though..they show all the money earn in the year and and how much was given to social security, adress and employer info.

Well, that's pretty much it..sorry for all trhe questions but I need a lot of :help:

You need to have the I-134 notarized.

Your bank should write you a letter on company letterhead and it should be signed by the person who wrote it.

Your employer should write on company letterhead as well and sign it.

Your bank statements should show direct deposit if you have it, or show your paystubs which do not need to be signed or notarized.

Your tax returns do not need to be notarized

I would think they should be translated into English for the US Consulate but maybe someone can help you more with that. Usually people don't have to deal with translating the USC's documents but someone can tell you I'm sure.

Good luck! I hope that helps!

Sarah

ps. About translating your stuff, I would email the Consulate to see what they want you to do about that.

Hi Luis!

I sent copies of PR tax returns and W-2, from joint sponsor and mine. They weren't notarized nor translated. I clearly labeled each withholding statements as W-2 PR, name and year.

Here in Japan, when Embassy approve a petition, they send you a letter with next instructions and if it is necessary, asking for more evidence. In my case, they didn't asked for more documents or evidence. They kept the last Tax returns from joint sponsor and me, and returned the rest of them. So, Embassy in Japan accepted them.

I think that each puertorrican in a visa journey has the same doubt about our taxes.

Good luck!

June 17 2006 Mailed I-130 and all documents Embassy asked for.

June 24 2006 Found this wonderful forum!

July 12 2006 I-130 approved. Received Visa application/interview instructions.

July 24 2006 Medical Examination at Tokyo British Clinic (Only took 1 hour and 3 shots, Ouch!)

July 24 2006 Finger prints for Police Certificate at Consulate of Peru in Tokyo (a lot of bureaucracy).

August 27 2005 Got Peruvian police certificate. Applied for the Japanese one, which will take 5 days.

August 30 2006 Appointment Requested

September 6 2006 Got japanese police certificate

September 11 2006 Interview date

APPROVED!!!

The only document we had notarized was the I-134.

We brought my 2003, 2004 and 2005 tax returns (This was a few months a go. I believe you only need your 2005 tax return now), pay stubs, and a letter from my employer. The only kept the 2005 tax return and handed everything else back.

Hopefully the rest of your process smooth and you have your interview soon.

For the affidavit I wanted to write a letter saying I would suport Laura and all that. I was asking if somebody has done that and has an example letter.

I don't think that's really necessary, because that's what I134 is all about.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

So there's no need for Luis and his co-sponsor to write a statement saying they're willing to support me? (I am Laura btw)

I don't think so, Laura. On the I134 they're already stating that they'll support you. One of the reasons why it has to be notarized, so it's more "official".

Ok, so no supporting statements, we got that bit. It's pretty much all done except for the stupid employment letters which are taking forever to get ready.
