I just read about some 98 cents per minute # that they have to call to make the appointment, that is ridiculous, am I reading it right that the fiance has to call and pay to make an appointment.

From what I understand that is correct regarding fees for calling in Phil $0.98 min or $18 in the US to get a PIN number for calling and scheduling an appointment. It's just another ridiculous charge in this crazy process but you can't get to next step unless you pay. I think most people here do the $18 PIN because $0.98 min on hold could add up FAST!

Just wait ... I hear the USEM Visa fee is supposed to go up from $131 to $400+ next year.

I did purchased the PIN # too but it they said good for (4) calls and I must have called more than several dozens times. So in my experience they really don't keep track of the calls. However, if they ask how many times have you called? e.g. is this your first call? Just say "yes." :) You do need to schedule the interview.

Good luck

It's not true that the pin which costs $18for the number 1-888-877-9888 is good for only 3 or 4 calls. You can actually use it as many times as you can until its expiration date.

By paying the call fee, one gets to talk with someone who knows what they are talking about re. your file. Otherwise, those lines would be flooded with callers on this question or that...like USCIS...and whoever answers will answer questions from a script. In addition, of course, we've got those Chinese debts to pay back once these wars are finished....if ever. Gotta get some pesos from somewhere.
