Sending regular money to fiancee. Good or Bad for Interview ?

I'm just wondering if records of my sending regular money to my fiancee is a good or bad thing to be seen during the interview in Manila.

I thought maybe this wasn't a good idea because maybe some interviewer might be suspicious if my relationship was based on money.

On the other hand sending some regular money monthly may show that I have the ability to support my future wife and am serious about the relationship.

Besides it would help my girl.

Thanks for helpful comments from those that have done the interview already.

I feel it helps to show that you can support her. I havent read anything yet that said it was a bad idea. Anything to show your relationship would help. You should be able to produce chats, phone logs or bills, letters, and emails to establish a relationship though. I think this would help some too. I havent gotten to that step in the process though, so I dont have personal experience with it. I send money or support my wife because just that...she is my wife.

It wouldn't hurt if you send money to her regularly, it shows you can support her. Just be sure that is not all you'll be presenting for proof. Also have photos, chat logs, emails, snail mails if you have any etc.

Good luck!

I heard that they included it as proof of relationship... I think there is nothing wrong about it.

I heard from my friend that someone was humiliated by the consul because of the big money she was receiving from her old fiance and she was denied.... This was a story of my friend who talked to that Filipina, I do not have any personal communication to that Filipina who was denied so I am not sure if it is true or not.

Personally, we didn't included any records because my husband was not able to send me any money when I was in the Phil, just medical and interview expenses, the rest was my expenses. It was my personal choice, even my husband was always offering me a support.

We brought bundles of proofs like snail mails, emails, chat, etc but they just asked me to submit only few.

Good luck!

Yeah, I've been making it a habit to send her a card every other week.. Just a cute love letter so that there's plenty of proof in addition to the pictures, chat logs, hotel receipts, plane tickets, etc.. The money stubs is a new one, but might as well go in the packet. :-)

As others have said, it's usually a positive, however, it depends on the circumstances like, whether she was supporting herself beforehand? Is she employed? It wouldn't hurt for her to keep all receipts, just in case the CO would ask to see what she used the money for.

My fiance used to send me some money (not the monthly kind. Only a few times --- when I had to buy a new PC and internet fees; and for the medical and interview fees.). During the interview, I was asked if he's been sending me money and I showed the moneygram receipts. The CO just looked at them and didn't asked further. No effect on the result of the interview at all. ;)

Hi, my fiance has been supporting me for the last 7 years. Im receiving a regular monthly allowance. We even have a joint savings account maintained in a Phil bank. I printed all the documents to show proof of the money transfers and secured a Bank certificate of our joint account.

However, during the interview, only the cards, pictures and affidavit of support were asked from me to support the relationship. The consul just asked why is it that I decided to go to the States only now. Guess he was surprised of the long engagement(15 days shy of 7 years at the time of the interview).

I personally believe that sending money maybe considered as an indication that the petitioner can support the beneficiary and will not be a burden or public charge when the latter will be in the US. So, its not bad for the interview.

I left a prepaid Greendot MasterCard with Merlaine. When I came home and started this new job, I just set it up for direct deposit and added a second card in her name. I printed off all of that information and will print monthly statements for her interview showing a joint account. I've about had it with banks anyway and this is working out great

From the USEM website:

Secondary evidence of relationship and identity. Principle applicants should be prepared to submit evidence that further establishes their relationship with the petitioner and with their spouse and any children applying for visas. Every applicant will need to prove identity. Bring these items to your interview:

o Six or more personal photos with the primary applicant and petitioner (and spouse and children if they are applying) taken over a period of time; also include a copy of the petitioner’s U.S. passport or Permanent Resident Card.

o Personal correspondence, home telephone records or financial records showing an ongoing relationship.

o Proof of joint property ownership, joint financial obligations or remittances from the petitioner

o Baptismal records, medical records, school records and year books with photos, old and current professional ID’s.

o All old passports.

o Any other evidence you feel might be helpful.

My guess is that sending money to show your support is definately either going to be a plus or have a neutral effecet...so you wouldn't lose either way.

But if you were sending your fiance very large sums of money, I would watch out. I think the consulate would have reason to grow suspicious if you're sending thousands and thousands of dollars.

Thanks very much for your comments. I was planning on sending about 5,000p a month to assist her and I know it will go far for her.

Appreciate your feedback now I feel better about it not being a problem. :)

Just something to ponder...

1. Know her personal needs

2. Send the equivalent amount of her "personal needs" that does not include luxuries.

3. Be mindful of her reasons when she needs your assistance with money.

I know some gals who have countless of reasons why she needs a certain amount when they know your heart is kind

enough to give.

So be sure your relationship is not molded by money.

During the whole process I sent $100.00 per week plus three visits to see her. I think it showed that I was serious about the relationship and she had no problems during the interview.
