Is it necessary to wait for SSN before filing for AOS

My hubby applied for his SSN a week ago, he came in the States with a K1 on Nov28th. The lady at the SS office said his information just came through since he has been in the country for only couple of weeks that his SSN should be in the mail by this week Tuesday (when we applied 2 weeks ago). Today is Friday and he just called them only to find out that there was some notification stating that they have to put his information back again in the system. The lady said as soon as the information is processed he should have his SSN hopefully by next week. My question now is, we have put our AOS package together and we were waiting for the SSN, since it's not here yet and our I-94 expires in Feburary do we just send the package without his SSN since the package includes EAD? He wants to start working as soon as he can. Please advise

You don't need an SSN to file the AOS. Where it asks for SSN put "None"

Not necessary. Go ahead and send in your AOS package when you are ready.
