My husband's AP was 2 weeks and they didn't keep his passport.

That's good to know!...thanks for the hope..they didn't keep Ahmed's passport either.

This starts week 2 of AP, I emailed the Doha embassy this morning and they replied 'still' in AP........

Thanks everyone for these AP threads, I feel I need your support more now than ever !!!! I mean, even though our CO said he believes in the validity of our marriage and didn't request any further docs or info, it's still a little scary about what the AP is really about and how long it will last.

I also wonder if the AP length has anything to do with whether the embassy is a busy one, like Cairo or Casa? Doha gets very little immigrant visa petitions going thru there, even DOS said that when I called.

But if AP is for a name check, that goes to Wash. D.C, right? So then maybe it depends on how busy THEY are when you get put on AP?

any thoughts? thanks again for all the positive support about not freaking out about being put on AP (F)

For alot of ppl all this immigration stuff and Ap is old hat to them. This immigration stuff is all new to us 'newbies' here. I did my own paperwork and did not hire a lawyer , and with each step of forms and papers, we learned something new. Now, to me, filling out paperworkd for a k1 feels like 'old hate' to me and from the past months I know what to expect in that department. But now we have just gone through the interview process and Ap and alot of us dont know what to expect. So it may seem to alot of people we're freaking out but its due to an underlying cause that we are new to this, we dont have hands on experience with AP, and we dont know what to expect. Sort of like getting lost driving, your on a road that you never been down before, and you just dont know where your going. But we'll get it eventually.

we had about 2 months of AP, and at the interview the CO was pretty ambivalent about whether or not to keep the passport. She basically told my husband that he could keep it, or she could keep it, and he told her just to hang onto it because he didn't need it, so she did.

To all those that contacted their congressman after being put on AP...How long did you wait before contacting them? Do you think it makes the Consulate mad when you get your congressman involved? I'm worried they would delay our case even longer or am I being paranoid?
