Interview for my parents in Manila next month, what documents should they bring?

My parents went for their medical exam a few weeks ago and told me that there was a message on Saint Luke's monitors (the hospital where they had their medical exam) saying that they should bring every original supporting documents on their interview. Is this true?

I also sent my AOS with my Tax return for 2008 plus pay stubs plus offer letter from my current employer on my application. Do I still need to send them a copy of I-864 and Income Tax Return for their interview?

Thanks very much. By the way, their interview is scheduled early next month! Thanks everyone for their help during this process.

Yes, embassies can request all original documents to be produced at the interview.

If they said to bring everything - then bring everything, better to have to much than not enough.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

It depends. Look at your email notice and find out what missing docs or requirements they need to bring. If it says you need to provide this then they must bring it. My notice (btw, their interview will be next month!) says they need to bring their passports, interview notice, medical results(this is directly sent to the USE) and 2x2 photos..Goodluck!

hi good luck on your parents interview. I'm browsing thru and gathering infos on how to bring my parents here. I haven't submitted their applications yet. I was wondering how long is the process took for your mom and dad? When did you apply? How long was it? And about the I-864 Affidavit of Support, is it okay if my husband co-sponsor or someone else co-sponsor? I stop working because we just had a baby and I have to take care of her. Also, I thought if my mama and papa is here, my mom can help with taking care of my baby while I go back to work. Am not too confident of leaving my baby to strangers to take care of, also it's expensive.

Hi Mooninlove,

There's one note on the reminder saying:

IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return to the visa interview.

I did sent the I-864 with my Federal Income Tax Return for 2008, plus my pay stubs for several months plus my offer letter for my current employer.

Do I still need to send my parents the AOS + Income Tax Return documents?

Thanks again.

Yes, embassies can request all original documents to be produced at the interview.

If they said to bring everything - then bring everything, better to have to much than not enough.

I already sent all original documents including my birth cert and my marriage cert, both original copies.

I only have one copy of these. The interview notice says "O" on these documents which is "The original documents has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements". Does it mean I don't have to give my parents these documents anymore?

Thanks a bunch.

I submitted the first sets of documents mid-July this year.

We received the medical/interview notice on 11.28.2009 so it took 4.5 months.

Interview is set for early January 2010, so 6 months total.

Yes, your husband can co-sponsor and/or other family members.

Good luck Ma'am.

Got the same note on the email but this is generic. If you had sent the copies as required then you're good to go. It says there that if you filed the I-864 and provided the IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return then that's the time you had to send those forms to your parents and have them bring it on their interview. But you've provided the I-864 with your ITR so nothing to worry there.I gave my parents our Nat Cert+ original NOA2 just in case. When is your parents interview??

Hi yonkersvan,

Where in the same boat. My Parents were schedule for interview this coming monday(21Dec.).Mooninlove is correct,it is a generic response.According to VJ friends here "Tayrivers", no need to bring anything on the day of the interview except the x-ray cd result and the original interview schedule.

But as for our peace of mind,I requested my sister to send my parents a copy of her I-864 just in case the IO wanted to see the docs.plus pictures of my parents together with my sister(petitioner) for verification purposes(just in case).Dont forget also 2x2 picture of your parents in white background.

good luck to our parents interview... :innocent::dance::dance:

Thanks to all who replied.

I called the US Embassy in Manila last night to make sure everything is set.

Rep told me that my parents should bring original copies of their birth certs, marriage certs, NBI, etc.

I also asked her if I should send my AOS and income tax return even if I already submitted - she said, no, its not necessary.
