I would say seperating the check and labeling each one... I-485... I-765... Biometrics Fee... So there is no guessing what each payment is for... Plus you can track it. I'm not at that stage yet, but that's the plan.

What's the correct thing to do, send 2 payments or one combined? Thanks.

I don't think it really matters, as long as the check or checks add up to the right amount.

Well if there was a problem with one application they are going to send everything back if you make one payment. If you send individual payments only the one that has a problem will come back.

But if there is an error on one application they'd have to send the whole check back ?

Yeah, that's a good point. I don't think there's any reason to seperate the I-485 and biometrics fee into 2 checks though.

Even for that we sent a seperate check, because I didn't want some bonehead thinking where's biometrics fee or that we overpaid the I-485 fee and sending it back.

I combined the two into one check ($395) and wrote "I-485 + Biometrics" in the memo line.

You are probably OK, just that when we started this ####### in 2001 people said send seperate checks for everything, so that's what we did.

Yeah, I'm fine. The USCIS cashed my checks (very quickly!) and everything is chugging along fine right now.
