Hi all,

I noticed that to get police records can take awhile, so I want to try and get a headstart on getting my Canadian criminal record. I currently live in Japan, and according to various sources, it says that I need to get fingerprinting done first in Japan and then have them sent to Canada in order to get my criminal record. When I called the police headquarters to get my fingerprinting done, they told me that they dont have the proper form to have the fingerprints sent to Canada and that I am supposed to get it. When I looked at another website of where to get the fingerprints if you are a Canadian residing OUTSIDE of Canada, then it states that you can use a FD258 FBI card. Does anyone know where I can get one of these?

Your advice greatly appreciated!

You can email David Greene (a very nice man) at Commissionaires in Canada. His email is dgreene@commissionaires-ottawa.on.ca They can do both name based and fingerprint based checks. He will send you a form and instructions. IT is very reasonable and much quicker than going to the Canadian Mounted Police.

Good luck. Let me know when everything works out.
