Hello,

Happy Holidays everyone, I have a question regarding "status change" We want to travel but from my understanding, she will not be able to leave the country while her paperwork is being processed for a "status change" is this correct? If so, how long does this process usually take?

Thank You,

Technically she can leave any time she wants - it is the getting back in that is the question. The answer really depends on the status of the person at the time they petitioned to adjust status (and/or to some degree, from what type of visa/status). How long things take may also depend on the type of visa and current status of the person trying to adjust status. For example, some folks could leave and reenter the US with no issues at all while they're being processed for AOS - while others would need AP/Advance-Parole to re-enter and still some who may be advised to not leave no matter what.

In your case - what visa or status are you (or your spouse) adjusting from?
