I (petitioner) don't have employment for last 9 months. My relative has given a joint affidavit of support. Can they question my wife or can reject her visa based on this fact ?....Need advice

Keep looking for job until you find one. Hopefully before your wife's interview.

Good Luck!

Yes, you not being employed will come up... However since you have a co-sponsor who earns enough (based on what you have said) then you should be OK... They just want to be sure the intending immigrant will not become a charge on the system...

If you sent papers while you were employed, then just don't tell them. They should still assume you are employed.

Never assume anything when it comes to immigration - always prepare for the worst.

BAD ADVICE... That is not legal or legit (and against the TOS)... I would not recommend to the OP to try to decieve immigration... Get a co-sponsor and be on the up and up... Besides, they have recently been asking for recent income proofs... They have some directives to do this...

Again, nothing is guaranteed, but I haven't seen anyone outright denied for insufficient income.

They would probably send the petitioner away and ask for more support proof.

Keep in mind they look at the whole picture. I assume you were employed before the 9 month unemployment. Hopefully you income was such that you look like a good candidate for supporting the immigrant in the future.

in my personal experience my petitioner who is my husband was a student and dont have job. I had my father to be my co-sponsor ( at least above poverty guideline ) and all the Embassy asked me during the interview was the paystubs ..Income tax return for 3 years prior to petition date, and some assets from the cosponsor and letter of explanation what he will do during the time I will be here in US that for example he will be helping us with our financial issues, etc. -- a place to stay and have it notarized :star:

Lostgirl... True, however, I see you processed in 2008... Since then and the economy, many consulates have become much more strict on financial issues... because of the recession... To OP.. get all your co-sponsor documentation you can and proof of your past income... Best of luck
