Russian Passport Renewal

Hello,

My wife and her son's Russian passport(they are both in the same passport) expires in March so she wants to start the renewal process now. I called the consulate in Washington and they said that she and her son had to appear in person to drop off and pick up the documents when they're ready. I didn't expect this and really don't want to purchase 3 planes tickets times 2, hotel room, etc:) I was hoping to mail the documents and do everything from home. If there is another way to make this happen please let me know...

It seems the "official policy" changes every so often. My wife has a friend here who's in the same boat. To be honest.... I don't know.

Folks have had success sending documents out west, but I haven't heard much about D.C.

You might want to contact a visa service company in the DC area. Maybe you can send them your documents and they would do the leg work for a fee.
