Wondering has anyone heard of that? or was charged for it when they import their car from Canada to US? The transporting companies are telling us we need to pay for that (1% of car value) and also need someone's SSN to accept the car if I havne't get my SSN yet. We tried to find information on it, tried to talk to a US custom agents, but no clear answer on it. Please help!!

Yes I have a vague recollection of reading something about a bond somewhere, i'll see if I can find it - however, it has nothing to do with you importing your car, I don't think they understand you importing a car as a personal possession.

Well I can't find it.

I'm wondering if this bond they are speaking of is something standard when having your car shipped? MrsCat shipped her vehicle, could always pm her and ask.
