I have learned from a travel agent who process the US Visa of someone that I know that you will never tell the consul you have met your fiance on a "dating" site...because it is consider like a mail-order bride thing and that will raise a red flag on your case. Another thing, they are more suspicious to those who have relatives in the US or those that are being introduced by a relative or a common friend...because they thought you just made an arrangement or pay someone to get you to US. Maybe that's why the consul was being rough to you. Well, you are not denied and you still have the chance to be approved. So hang on there...you know your relationship is genuine, you told them the truth...God will bless you with a good news. I understand it will be hard to talk to your family and friends about this...but trust me, it helps a lot to have someone to be there with you at times like this. :) Dont give up sis!

thanks dear.. but you know, i am not good inlying much. Im much of a bad liar. besides.. my fiance and i try to run our relationship ever since in an honest way.. and if ever we'll lie on how we've met. i might have a difficult way to prove it.. anyway.. im happy i told the truth.. maybe.. the CO doesnt like my face anyway... or maybe im not that good enough for his standards to get in US...

A few years ago having met on a dating site was looked down on. Things have changed as so many people now meet online on sites like FH or Cherryblossoms and go thru the immigration process.

I don't think FH has a immigration service but Cherryblossoms does.

Hey guys please dont get me wrong. I am not trying to tell you or anyone here to lie. I am just sharing with you the possible reasons why the consuls are being suspicious to those couples who have met on a dating site. I know there are many who honestly found their true love on those sites but we cannot avoid the issue that there are some who are using it as a way to get to the US in a way of a "mail order bride" as shameful as it is...it is common in the Philippines. Since you have been asking why the consul did this and that...I thought maybe this could help you enlighten a lil bit about the issue. I totally support you and agree that you remain honest to them. I believe in the saying that honesty is the best policy. What you did is the right thing. I wish you will have your passport back with the visa SOON! :)

Well I don't think that telling the truth that you met online will raise a red flag. Too many got approved already and well all know that almost 90% met online.

Just have faith in GOD always, for sure meeting online has nothing to do why you're on AP now, it has something to do with your Mom's status. But if they will find that that you are telling the truth then you will get your visa.

The question is: How would you answer that question, if you guys really met online or from a dating site?! Is there anyway you can change the way to answer it? NO, because that's how you really met...

----VISA JOURNEY ENDS----

It is great to love, but also guard your heart...

As I started to picture the trees in the storm, the answer began to dawn on me. The trees in the storm don't try to stand up straight and tall and erect. They allow themselves to bend and be blown with the wind. They understand the power of letting go. Those trees and those branches that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break. Now is not the time for you to be strong, Julia, or you, too, will break.

Yeah, i was thinking the same. But unfortunately my status is different. Wll I wish he was someone my mom knew. But to be honest, my mom wouldn't care to introduce someone to me for that sake. My family in US has separate lives and they don't care about my love life actually. So what the co was thinking about me was totally impossible to happen and was extremely wrong.

I did not say that telling the truth would raise a red flag on your case. What I was telling the OP, are the POSSIBLE reasons why her CO was being suspicious in her case. There are two possible reasons: meeting online through a "dating site" & her having relatives in the US. If you say meeting online, it could be through an online chat rooms, blog sites, games or dating sites. It just happened that because of some dating sites that are catering mail order bride and doing visa processing gives a bad reputation of the whole thing...that's why some CO are being suspicious about it. True that most of us have met our partner through online under different circumstances and many have made it through the whole immigration process without a question.

The question is: How would you answer that question, if you guys really met online or from a dating site?! Is there anyway you can change the way to answer it? NO, because that's how you really met...

Exactly, and like i have said I am not trying to tell anyone here to lie about it. I am just giving her the idea why would this thing is sometimes become an issue during the interview. The OP was confuse why she was being put on AR and why she was asked those kinds of questions that's why I am giving her the POSSIBLE reasons why.

During the interview at the embassy it is good to prepare all the strong evidence that you have to prove that your relationship is genuine but it is wise to learn those things that they will possibly think as a weak point in your relationship. If the CO's thinks that meeting on a dating site is kinda fishy...then be prepared to be questioned about it and know how are you going to use your evidences to back up your statement.

hello, in my case, me and my fiance was introduced by my brother (Florida). Why would they act suspicious about that? yes, we were introduced but we fell in love....

From what i have learned, they MIGHT find it something fishy because there could be possibilities that there is an arrangement or your brother have paid someone to help you to get you to the US too. Things like that should be looked at and be prepared on how are you going to answer those questions and how are you going to use your evidences as well.
