Hi everyone, so now that Im in the AP club since Sunday the 13th Dec, im trying not to obsess about it, but sometimes i wonder if the day of the interview when you walk up to the window, if the CO already knows that they will put you on AP or not.

I know each case is different, but it just seems strange that some people are very prepared and have a great interview (like us), and still get AP, and others people did not even have their evidence looked at and were barely asked 2 questions in and in 5 minutes they get complete approval without AP.

Any opinions or knowledge to share? :star:

Well i don't think that the CO will put you under AP before the interview .

Cause from my understanding that the AP cost a lot of money to check on your back ground , name check ,go to the beneficiaries home to ask their family some questions about the relationship .....and it needs some time thats for sure .

SO before the interview the CO is not sure if he will approve the beneficiaries or not '' maybe the CO will deny the beneficiaries at the interview '' .

SO the CO wait till the interview and see if he wants to approve the beneficiaries or not.and if he wants to approve the beneficiaries but at the same time he needs some more info or documents he will put the beneficiaries under AP .

otherwise if the CO put the beneficiaries under AP before the interview and then deny him it will be wasting money and time .cause as i said the AP cost them money and time .

DO you think its just strange ?! Well i guess its extremely strange. as you just said you can see that some people with so many red flags and have not much evidences got their visa in a few days without AP . and some people have not any red flags and have so much evidences and the CO put them under AP and then it will end up them getting the visa after a few months or maybe they wont get it at all .

Somehow i guess it depends on the CO .sometimes i feel like if my case was with another CO i would get the visa in a few days .!!!

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

I think it's in a name. If the name brings up an FBI hit you're in AP. They'll have to start running the associations and clearances from there. I also think that in MENA countries, if you have a name that is on a watch list or maybe cousins, etc - there will be AP.

I have a theory about people who go through USCIS/NVC very quickly and get post interview AP no matter what....

they were processed through USCIS/NVC so quickly because they didnt go through the "typical" name checks and when it comes to interview stage, they get hung up. On the other hand, you do see the occasional timelines where they flew thru the service centers and then got the visa right away also, but i think thats a rarity. IDK, just a theory.

I dont think the CO randomly decides when they see you walk through the door, but I can def see them opening the case file and seeing that there wasnt some certain check done and they know before talking to you that youre in for a name check no matter what.

that just makes more logical sense to me, but then again we are talking about the gov so it cant be too logical :P

I hope your AP is swift and good luck Zahra

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

In some of the states I've lived in, the highway patrol have quotas they have to fill for tickets issued. So they just hang around by the roadside stopping people for speeding and issuing tickets til their quota is filled for the day and then they head off to the donut shop or something. Meanwhile, somebody speeds past the donut shop going 40 miles over the limit but they don't lift a finger because they've filled their quotas already. So I was wondering if the consulates are told they have to put a certain number of people on AP.

Everyone from every country gets a name check, so really everyone goes through AP. I believe some countries run the check prior to the interview (or for certain applicants), which is why it might seem that some people do not get AP, but everyone gets a name check.

AR at the consular level is a different matter.

i was under AP since my interview till earlier of this month and for my understanding they put me under AP cause i missed the divorce certificate for my wife on my interview even my interview went smoothly and no red flags on my case but they put me under AP cause of that so as many said i dont think they put you under AP before the interview the interview is the most important to the CO decide if AP or not ,, wish you the best luck and this AP goes away so soon, have a nice day.

Since the beginning of our journey and reading threads here on VJ, I am getting myself prepared for AP/AR. It's hard specially talking with other VJers who know that they will get approved or denied the day of their interview to where MENA countries always have some sort of hold up. I do believe it also depends on how quickly you do get through USCIS and NVC. It seems for a while, they were pushing NOA2s through the USCIS as fast as they can. Then all of the sudden it's like a complete stand still. Same thing with NVC. So maybe they do push things through to be checked at the consular level. That would make sense.

Jenn, Adam is getting so big! I love the new pic! :star:

This is an interesting topic that I have always been curious about. But like Jenn said, I am figuring that everyone gets a name check its just some are put in AP longer than others. Coming from Morocco, I was suprised the hubby got his visa the next day instead of waiting. Morocco is such a difficult consulate, I thought maybe it would have been weeks.

Mine had the two question, no evidence needed, visa pick up the next day experience. So, I imagine that he was pre-approved before the interview. It may have had something to do with not having a name that set off alarms and/or that we didn't rush thru the process, so they had plenty of time to check him out beforehand.
