Hello there,

I am just really frustrated with this process. We got a 221g and pending additional documents. But, because my fiance got grilled by 6 officers at his interview this is just making me uneasy. The US Consulate wants a religious divorce decree now, and more evidence. We will be providing them what they want as soon as possible as we are waiting signatures on the religious decree. They took emails and phone records, but still want more evidence besides our engagement pictures. What more can I provide? I am really hoping for a positive outcome, but want to have my options available as well. I don't want to be away from my soon to be hubby anymore. What would be a better option and a faster process? On the bottom of the 221g they state do not submit passport and that is what has gotten me really worried. I called DOS and they tell me pending additional documents to confirm I am legally divorced, and my civil divorce decree specifically states that I am legally divorce through muslim law as well Is DCF better or CR-1? Any assitance would be appreciated at this point. Just getting really frustrated with all this

At this point, you are going to have to overcome the same issues with the CR1 - that will not change the need for the decree.

That will be provided and I am not worried about that as we are religiously divorced and document is obtainable, but we need the proper signatures. Just worried about the consulates decision even once we submit. As they really grilled him.

Give them whatever evidence you can, additional photographs, letters, phone bill records, proof of yr travels made to go see him like boarding passes airline tickets, pictures of any gifts that u might have exchanged, letter from his parents stating how wonderful a person you are and how they cant wait for you to be a part of their family and vice versa. ANYTHING that you think might prove that you two are seriously thinking abt marriage.

Also take this in a positive way that they atleast didn`t refuse you outright..... at least they still have yr petition and are willing to work with you.

Thank you Jack Sparrow :). This gives me some hope about all this. We have gathered everything as you said for evidence and I have affidavits from my family as well. I even sent the consulate scan copies of the letters from my family via email. I am going to be sending them a letter in the post through UPS addressing all the questions they asked my fiance about me. I am getting that letter notarized as well. Yes, he has all my boarding passes as well and he will submit that. During the interview they did not accept our boarding passes and affidavits, and postal mails. This time around he will be submitting that to them.

Submit WHATEVER you can lay your hands on. Including EVERYTHING you took and submitted the first time he went.

Don't rush into a CR1 or a DCF. You will still need to overcome your K-1 issues. Wait till you get an actual denial. Don't presume it. They might just call him and ask him to submit his passport -- I've heard of this several times, actually.

A DCF will require 6 months of residency FIRST in India and then qualify you to be eligible for DCF.

The CR-1 isn't much quicker. 6 months at the very least, is what I'm looking at currently.

Good luck! :)

Thanks that is what I am going to do. Hopefully, that is the case with us and they call him for the passport. Ok, DCF seems very long and drawn out and would be my last resort. Yes, you are right I should not presume this, but this process is just full of many unexpected surprises. That is what we are doing is submitting everything and anything.
