Just arrived in MI last December 9...sobrang lamig din dito, it was -14C last night and the snow is 6-8 inches deep na. My fiance said umpisa pa lang to, so more snow to come bbbrrrrr...first thing I did? Shopping! hehehe I needed sweaters, jackets, coats, and boots to keep me warm of course.

Di pa naman ako naho homesick, actually I have been here na for 5 months when I came to visit my fiance last May, we just had to travel back to Manila in October for my fiancee visa, so medyo adjusted na rin ako ng konti...I have been cooking filipino food also because my fiance loves pinoy food. I love the quality of their meat here, so fresh and less fat. We get to buy freshly picked fruits and vegetables also. Needless to say we are on the countryside so it's mostly farmland...mas madami pang horses and cows dito kesa tao hehehe...

Oh and I had my fishing license na when I first came here last May. Did a lot of boat ride and fishing in the lake with my fiance. I caught a couple of bass but my fiance threw them back in the water because they're too small...dami nilang rules about fishing :) Been to casino several times also whenever we get the chance, and won a few dollars :)

I don't see a lot of filipinos here so I really do not have filipino friends except those I chat with online who are all far from where I am.

Got my new phone yesterday and we're also picking up our marriage license today, we're getting married on December 30 :) I applied for ssn na rin. Funny when we were at the social security office and the staff asked how long will I be here for, my fiance said "forever!", I looked at him and things started to sink in...that this is really going to be forever, of course we have plans of traveling back and forth to the Philippines, but I will really be spending most of my lifetime here and that means embracing things different from what I have been used to....not that I am complaining though.

As someone said, life is all good and God is good all the time :)

Congrats on your baby :)

wow.. congrats in advance sa wedding nyo post agad ng pictures ha hehehe... god bless

Arrived in Memphis, TN last Nov. 4.

How's my new life? My married life is great. Hubby is very considerate and sensitive to all my needs. I'm peachy when he's around but he needs to work during the day so I'm left here at home alone. Kinda drives me nuts. I got no one to talk to so facebook and yahoo messenger are my buddies. I'm just so glad that my hubby works near at home, only 4 minute drive, at least he can come home for lunch and eat with me. I can't go out because I don't know how to drive yet and it's so cold outside, still adjusting to the temperature here. The neighborhood is also so quiet, it's deafening. When it comes to food, well, I'm learning how to cook so now I can cook some filipino foods. And oh, I miss mangoes. The mangoes here are a lot different from the mangoes in the Philippines.

Do I feel homesick? Sometimes when I see kids because they remind me of my nieces and nephew back home. I was very close to them. Or when I see people with similarities to my family. Lately, I think I'm more bored than homesick. I miss working.

Nother Pinay here, from: OKC...Arrived here on the 17th of September!

Homesick?...Hmmm...Im not (yet...?) Happy? Yesssss....I am! My husband is very attentive and we stay busy honeymooning, roadtripping and doing different kinds of activities everyday...You know, living life. And about the snow...well, we went to Crested Butte Colorado (to snow ski) last weekend...Brrrrrr! So freaky coooooold (LOL) but had a good time! Food...hmmm...well, I dont really miss the typical filipino foods coz there's a good Asian market/grocery here...and we eat tilapia, bangus, munggo, tinolang manok at marami pang iba. My husband contacted the OKC archdiocese soon after I arrived and got me introduced to the local filipino catholic community. Only thing, they are a bunch of dancing LOLAS...LOL! But they're really nice and invite us to functions or gatherings frequently. My family comes to cafe once or twice each week...so...so far, no homesick for me!

Hang in there GIRLS, i'm sure the angst will pass in time...specially when those babies are keeping you busy and SMILING! :star::)(L)

wer u from? missouri ako

Hello san ka sa Missouri? I live in St. Louis...Gravois. I got here Oct. 21...until now wala pa rin akong nakikita ni isang pinay dito.

I am pregnant right now and super hirap kasi lahat ng gusto kong kainin puro pinoy food. Burgers and pasta are ok but it cant make me full....nothing can beat the RICE!

Sometimes I just cry it out and cry my mom's name...mamaaaaaaaaa hahaha...i know im silly but super miss ko na mama ko kasi pag not feeling well ako sya nag aalaga sa akin at nagluluto ng sabaw (sigh). Well in fairness, I am happy to be finally with my husband but the truth is...I am not happy in this place. I hate the cold weather...i dont feel the spirit of christmas here kasi people seem to look depress dahil sa lamig ng panahon...unlike sa pinas kahit yung mga tambay sa kalye naka smile parate. I really miss the Christmas in the Phils. lalo na ang simbang gabi.

I hope i will meet new friends here para naman i dont feel so alien. hehe

I hope i will meet new friends here para naman i dont feel so alien. hehe

rice parin talaga hanap ko.. so far next month luluwal kuna baby boy namin hehehe...

miss ko talaga ang filipino food..yummyy...

kee in touch

On October 27 (more than a month ago), I finally arrived at LAX with my K-1 visa. The immigration officer (or whatever that guy's designation is), I mean the one who attached the I-94 in my passport let me pass after less than five minutes. My then fiance (now husband) and I got married on December 1. We are living in Santa Monica.

I have gone to some places like Marriott (Lake Mary, Orlando) for a two-week seminar, fun visits to the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the San Diego Zoo, Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, etc. The climate in Orlando and L.A. are quite similar to that of my beloved Cebu.

A lot of things really seem convenient at home like the no-touch (sensor) trash bin, wireless printer, ziplock products, etc. Still, I miss calamansi, siling labuyo, Greenwich, and more. Bisan ilang soy sauce kay lahi ug timpla.

Congratulations to the moms-to-be!

The best part of being in the U.S. is having my husband.
