I'm not complaining mind you. This is really just an observation.

So, being a nice relative, I (we) invited Ana's recently turned 15 year old niece to spend the summer with us. She is from Mexico. A very nice girl. But wow, the conversations are really hard to drag out of her. This has been quite an experience for us as much as it is for her. Oh, and the hours they sleep! lol I do not recall sleeping this much when I was 15. :angry: How come I didn't get to do that? :P

Daniel, Javier's little sister is getting ready to turn 15 in December. We can't get her to shut-up. :lol: She talks all the time. Even to me, and I can't understand anything she says. Maybe Ana's neice is just shy. She'll open up soon. Just give her some time. But the whole sleeping thing, yeah, they do it alot. I don't remember ever sleeping that much when I was 15 either. :no:

Yes, teen's can be hard to talk to sometimes. :D I have a twelve year old niece, and she tends to be quiet these past few weeks. One of my good friends also has a teen... a fourteen-year-old. And she's really quiet, too, and tends to keep to herself.

They're both really fantastic girls (I've known them since they were toddlers) but, I imagine they would come across as being a bit difficult to converse with at times. :lol: Sometimes I think they're in their own world... spending too much time on the computer and listening to music. But if I start talking to them about something they really enjoy, they open up and their faces brighten.

As for sleeping... well, I read an article about this in Psychology Today. They say that teens need more sleep than adults. Up to 10 hours is normal. I don't remember details but I think it mentioned that there are hormones/chemicals (or lack of zinc?) in the body that keep teens up late at night. So, a lot of them will have difficulty falling asleep before 11 PM. Or if they fall asleep, they will wake up. A lot of teens go to bed after 1 AM or something like that. And because they sleep late, they wake up later the next day because their bodies still want those 10 hours.

yup yup. :thumbs: We definitely went into this with an open mind and the attitude of working with whatever the teeanager presented us with. so we are rolling with it. but that doesn't mean we don't question wether we are doing something wrong, or is she not happy, etc...

thanks for sharing guys, it sure helps! unlike some 15 yr old i know. :P

lol she has this brand spanking nano ipod.... it is goobye world when she puts that thing on.
