Hello,

I recieved a letter yesterday from USCIS that the application that the I-130 application which I had filed for my sister (I am the US citizen) has been approved and sent to the National Visa Center.

My sister is married, has kids, lives in Pakistan and is 37 years old.

What are the next steps and how long will it take for her to get a visa?

I would greatly appreciate your responses.

Thanks

Your sister's case is in the F3 family preference category. Because the F3 category is oversubscribed (more people wanting visas than there are available each year), it takes about 10-12 years for a sibling from Pakistan to get a visa.

Take a look at the visa bulletin, F3 beneficiaries with cases received by USCIS before Oct. 1, 1999, are only now eligible for visas. The date that USCIS receives the petition is also known as the Priority Date (PD). Your sister's PD has to be current before she is eligible for a visa. The NVC will not contact you or the beneficiary until a few months before the PD becomes current. There is nothing for you to do until the NVC contacts you or the beneficiary.
