Hello everyone!

I live in Liverpool UK and my fiance lives in the USA we are currently going through the process for us to get married and for me to move to the USA to live together.

I am currently completing my documents ready for the interview and medical exam. On the notification of applicant readiness document, amongst the check list, it says evidence of support. I am just not 100% sure what this is, is it something to do with the i-134 form? Does she have to get someone on her side to fill one out and send it to me ready for my interview?

Im confused and so nervous about this whole thing i dont want to make any mistakes !!!

I am new to this website and i would be so grateful for some help ^_^

Thanks so much,

Jmr

Welcome to VJ...

Evidence of support is referring to the I-134 Affidavit of Support (and any supporting documents/evidence). This is completed by the Sponsor (US Fiancé) and sent to the beneficiary (foreign fiancé) to take to the Embassy/Consulate's interview.

Yes - the big picture is;

Your fiancé has petitioned the US government to allow you to apply for a fiancé visa - that's the I-129f 'phase'. Once the petition is approved it is sent to the Embassy/Consulate and you (the foreign fiancé) applies for the fiancé visa. Part of your visa application is the I-134m which tells the US Government that you will not become a 'public charge' (go on welfare so to speak) by showing your fiancé is able to keep that from happening (more or less). If that makes sense.

Jmr

it is to prove your fiance is able to suport you and you wont become a burden to the gov in the future

if you do become a borden your fiance is responsible on paying back the gov any amount that you might collect in the future .

thats why they require the finacuel info on your fiance so they know she got enough income to soport you and her

dont forget the suporting documents she has to add to the i 134 ( bank statements , income tax , employer letter ectr )

Wow thank you both so much for your fast responses !

I have just spoken to her and she says that because she doesn't make enough money ill need a co-sponsor which she says will be her father. Will he have to fill in one of those forms and provide the supporting documents? (as well as my fiance or instead of?)

Yes - as well as. Your fiancé will still need to be the primary sponsor (regardless of income). Co-sponsor completes a separate affidavit of support form and must provide supporting documents/evidence.

Also, for LONDON I134, your sponsors need to be sure that they check that they "DO intend" to provide specific contributions to your support while you are in the US. This is particularly necessary for the cosponsor. Yes, this is contrary to the example form available on VJ, and yes, it has caused problems for people in the past.

Also, you'll find lots of info like this down in the UK forum, like what birth certificate is needed (long form) and where to get it...etc etc etc.

It's always a good idea to spend some time in the appropriate regional forum to get the latest "hands on" advice such as Nik+Heather's input about the I-134.
