Hey guys, Luis enlisted with the Air Force and we're shopping around for a new bank for when he goes to basic training and the future, as we use a local credit union that works only in Puerto Rico, and will need to open a joint account that we can access from anywhere they send us next year.

Looking for opinions on the best banks an airmen should use.

Almost all of the Air Force Bases have credit unions affiliated with them, for instance Keesler AFB has Keesler Federal Credit Union. https://www.kfcu.org/

I am a big fan of Pentagon Federal Credit Union. USAA is also very popular and a good choice. https://www.usaa.com

With direct deposit and ATM's you can always access your money. Customer service is more of the choice. I would tend to lean towards a credit union that is familiar with the particular demands of military life.

I was thinking about switching to USAA. How is their claim service? I don't plan any claims but you never know.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Plain and simple, USAA is the best company you can get - all the way around.

You can use them for your banking needs and so much more. I highly recommend them for insurance. They're custom-designed for military use so you'll have next to no problems with them. I think they were rated something like 99.98% customer satisfaction for like, 20 years running. I heard a blip on the radio the other night that says they're also managing something like $40Billion in assets now. Don't quote me on that number, but it's something like that.

All I know is they give me money back on my insurance policy at the end of every year. I've never heard of any other company that actually takes all their "extra" money and divies it up amongst its members. USAA does.

A big fat  for USAA.

USAA are fabulous. We've got accounts with several different banks, but USAA have never, ever let us down. Husband's been with them since he joined up as a teenager.

I have banked with USAA since 1999 and have always been satisfied. They recently opened up their membership to all veterans. If anyone reading this is a veteran it's worthwhile to check them out. I am in Japan and do all my banking online. Having a local bank is a thing of the past and not necessary.

USAA is the best. I have had insurance and banking with them since 1981 and have not had any problems with their claim service. USAA is now open to all ranks in the military, not just officers anymore.
