After a very interesting process over the past few months and 5 hours at the U.S. Embassy today the VISA was approved. I have to say that the grueling part of the entire process as an entity was at window 24. If anyone has any questions on what I experienced just ask and I will gladly share.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

No, I was not abused.

But, the entire interview focused on me. They didn't ask her one single question other than how long have you been married. For 20 minutes I was questioned on dates, times, why am I doing this, why did she marry me, do I have any reservations about the relationship or forsee any problems, my ex-wife and why the relationship failed, my city where I live, how I deal with the pests and other creatures, etc. By the time I was finished I was drenched in sweat and finished an entire bottle of Coca-Cola. I actually had to think about the dates and start using my fingers to count and I haven't done that since elementary school!!

I think that one main reason is that I'm not a typical person that passes through their window everyday so he might have been somewhat intrigued and wanted to know more. I'm not one to get nervous easy either and deal with pressure on a regular basis, but I was trying to figure out where he was going with all the questions. All in all he was very courteous and friendly, but he could have easily revoked the application if he chose to because I'm sure the dates I answered were not 100% correct.

It's amazing how the fate of a couple can be in the hands of one person, but I do believe that legitimate relationships produce legitimate documents and proof. There will be absolutely NO way you will be denied. That's just my two cents.

Other than that my appointment was at 6AM and I arrived at about 6:30. Why? Because I knew that the line would be incredibly long and moving slow. I've spent quite a bit of time around the US Embassy area and know how things move. I don't suggest this if you're not familiar or a nervous wreck about missing your appointment. I was inside by 0645 and then started playing the waiting game. They called us up for various documents like the passports, DS230, etc. This went on for a few hours until you get called to the MAIN interview windows. While waiting, I passed the time talking to other people and making friends although I did see many others just sitting there and looking around. I actually enjoyed my wait!!

For me and my situation the entire process was a piece of cake and just not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, you get impatient not being with your loved one, but it is what it is and you've got to deal with it. Many say that it's a challenge dealing with AOS, but it is what it is. I will file my paperwork, pay the fees and do what I have to do. It's no big deal and together we will overcome that mountain too.

Excellent report, with meaningful detail for others, si man. One caution, though:

legitimate relationships produce legitimate documents and proof. There will be absolutely NO way you will be denied.
This may be true in most places, but not in Ecuador, even when legitimate relationships produce legitimate documents and proof. Guayaquil interviewees, beware, si man.
