Hi everyone, just wanted to update about our interview.

First, alhamduli'illah we are together here for 10 days for the interview, after being apart for the process for 8 months :star:

So.......we went to the interview here in Doha, Qatar, our wait time was very fast, in and out in about 1 hour.

The prescreener did not ask any questions, only took his medical report and fingerprints, then we sat down again, waited for about 15 min and was called for the interview.

The CO was a nice American guy, and asked us (mostly ME!) questions about how we met, how is family feels about me, my previous marriage/having 1 child.............basically he asked us about our red flags, and we were very happy and confident telling the truth.

We did notice when he tried to ask us the same question more than once, but we were very relaxed and happy talking with him.

He looked at all of our pictures with Ahmed's family, our honeymoon in Egypt, Skype records, etc. He asked Ahmed if his family was OK with him marrying someone of his own choice ( I guess they think all Arabs have arranged marriages!!). Ahmed explained his family loves me and is not into arranged marriages, and that his mom knows he's very independent like that.

Then after about 10 min of questions, he stated he believed we have a real marriage and relationship, but he has to do mandatory document verification, so we are in Routine AP.

I told him I will only be here until the 19th, and is there any way our AP can be over before then so my husband can come home with me............he was nice and said he would do his best to make it go fast, but some of it is out of his control. He said it maybe could take a week or so. He did not keep his passport, just saying to keep it in case he needs to travel in the meantime. :(

Then I emailed the Embassy today and they actually called my husband at 8am to tell him the it's just routine AP and they will let him know when it's done.

Can I get your opinions if you think we're probably OK..........we knew it would have been a miracle for an Arab guy not to get any AP, but we were hoping for a miracle.........

Aya...congrats on your interview, sounds like they just need 2 docs :dance:

He will probably spend some time in AP, name checks and things like that take at least a few weeks. That's probably the "routine AP" that's out of his hands that he was talking about. But it sounds like your interview went well, and I am sure it won't be too long before you're together, inshaAllah. :)

Thanks everyone for your replies.........I also called DOS in D.C. today and the woman also said it's totally normal AP from what she can see about our interview on her computer. She said also if there are any extra name/securit checks, sometimes it takes 3-4 weeks.........

But we did feel good about the interview, we weren't nervous after we started answering questions because everything we said was the truth.

And the fact that the CO did say at the end of the interview that he did believe we have a genuine marriage/relationship made us feel we're good to go. We just wish he asked to keep Ahmed's passport.

While the CO was asking about each 'red flag', i was thinking about all the other vj'rs who say their red flags weren't an issue. The CO stated 'so, it looks like your relationship moved kind of fast, from meeting and marrying in 3 months'. We just said that we knew we found the right person and felt no need to wait in a long engagement.

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews............ and in the AP club, for a short stay (F)

Congrats on the successful interview!!!

Hope you hear something really soon. Happy Holidays!!!

Okay My fiance and I have been working on this Visa thing since March 2009, he just had his medical on November 24, 2009 and we sent the last packet to the Embassy in London in October. My question is, how long does it take till they give you an interview date? Is there anywhere or anyone I can call to check the status of my application or when my fiance's interview is?

Thanks for all your help!!

Kelly :)

Thank you so much :star: Well, I have to go back home Friday night without Ahmed....our prayers for only a couple of days on AP did not happen :(

But alhamduli'illah we were not denied or asked for more proof of relationship, our AP is just the 'routine' AP, I guess for a final security/fingerprint clearance and document verification. That's what the CO told us at the interview and when I called DOS in D.C. they said the same thing.

We will just continue praying hard for a short AP (and for everyone else too!). Please keep us in your prayers also.
