I have read through some of the older posts about purchasing a one way ticket out of the Philippines. I have just been involved with doing this though AA and they will not issue the ticket in the US even though I paid for it. My wife has to have her ticket printed and issued in the Phil for my purchase to finalize. I was not aware of this strange rule. American Airlines said it is a requirement of the Phil gov.

If you buy a one-way ticket from the Philippines to the US, it will indeed be issued in the Philippines, and not the US. Why would you even want to take possession of such a ticket in the US, only to then have to forward it to the Philippines, from where it could be used?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

So I guess AA is not using e-tickets? Several years ago I purchased a ticket for my wife on a flight out of Moscow on Delta and I was able to print it out or just e-mail it to her. Heck, Delta doesn't even need a print out. Once they have your name in their system they just look at your passport (and visa if required) and you are good to go.

AA does not allow e-ticket for flight out of Phil. You have to go to the AA ticket location which is AirSource located at the Century Park Hotel lower lobby. What I ended up having to do was call AA and get a certificate issued and then they used that number which I gave my wife to give them to issue the ticket to my wife at their office. Repeat you can not e-ticket if you are getting a one way ticket out of the Phil this is a gov requirement. If you don't do this you really are not following the law as all departing tickets beginning out of the Phil has to be issued there. I have read that some people did not have to do this but in the case of AA they got in trouble recently and they will no longer do it knowingly.

In my case I used miles for the ticket but I was told the ticket still must be issued in the Phil. My process may have been harder due to the fact I needed a certificate to redeem the miles so the ticket would be issued.
