“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thank you Malrothien. Yeah that comment was a bit mean...

Any help/suggestions/advice is appreciated though :)

I think he meant to say, "No Money No Honey." I hope things do look up for you. Why not save up a couple years first and do things proper? Cheers. :star:

Exactly.

Sounds like the OP is young and has plenty of time to get well situated before "making the plunge". Why start off "in the hole"?

Being broke puts LOTS of unneeded pressure on relationships.

Thank you Malrothien. Yeah that comment was a bit mean...

Thats's not close to being mean! Just GOOD advice if you want a relationship to be successful.

Get your act together before you act!

Not necessary to say either. Some ppl don't live in story book land where they have jobs due to just getting out of school or crumby economic situations or getting laid off. Despite some ppls best efforts, sometimes ppl are in temporary ruts. Separation can take it's toll on even the strongest of relationships as well. So she should wait another financial year to get married when she can line up a co-sponsor? That is ridiculous. If co-sponsorship is applicable for the embassy she is dealing with she should try to find a well qualified co-sponsor, And also work on fixing her own financial situation.

Granted, I will agree financial strain can ruin relationships too but, that is not our place to judge whether or not that is "good advice" or not, that is an opinion.

OP, Like Gary said, The I-134 is not part of your original petition. Although to give you peace of mind, you should start actively trying to resolve your financial situation and looking for a suitable co-sponsor if the embassy you're dealing with allows it.

I don't think anyone was trying to be mean, just giving you advice from their perspectives.

So are you going to get a co-sponsor? :star:

We needed one to get over the hump of proving income, but managed to support ourselves with no debt (and live on our own) with a little bit in savings and my job at Wallyworld making $9.50 an hour. It's not really as dire as some of the older fuddy duddys make it sound -- it's not EASY but it's also not a relationship destroyer.

I would look at the baseline minimum that you'll need to support yourself and your SO & reassess what kinds of jobs you're willing to work. It probably won't help with the petition but after finding a co-sponsor, the important part is actually being able to support yourself. Which CAN be done under the poverty level.

Thank you everyone, really. I truly appreciate the helpful advice about the affidavit. And thank you again Malrothien.

Just keep in mind - that the I-134 is NOT required on I-129F submittal -

it is required on INTERVIEW DAY -

so you have some time. anywhere from 3 to 11 months (depending on USCIS, NVC, and the consulate itself )

I'd suggest you file now, then dash like mad to 'get that job', or 'get that co-sponser' .

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Just so you know, there are LOTS of students on VJ who are in the same "I'm studying, not working!" situation. They frequently get their parents to cosponsor their fiance(e)'s visa.

It's not necessarily pathetic OR unusual.

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

You are not the only one in the same situation. My husband, since he graduated, is also hunting for whatever job that doesn't want to be able! He is meanwhile doing sort of different small works (a friend from his church got for him some housekeeping job). We wake up everyday praying and thinking: "maybe today...". Trust you might find a job in the process. As it has been mentioned above that your tax report will show your situation.

I wish you the best

Congrats! You can also consider getting married and THEN applying. It seems like it would be a more cost effective solution sometimes. With one of the married visas the spouse can start working immediately. Which sounds like it helps eliminate financial stress in the first bit of marriage. I often wish we had gone that route since I have so many medical issues and the bills to go along with them.

Our VisaJourney started July 2009 when I mailed the 129-F

Fiance here February 2010, married 10 days later

GC received in the mail 10-Jun-2010

Able to apply to remove conditions 12-Feb-2012

BABY GIRL BORN JULY 2011!!!
