Hello,

I have a few questions regarding the Affidavit of Support.

I know we can have co-sponsors, but as for myself, my situation seems rather different from all the well established individuals in here.

I'm very sorry as this is going to sound pathetic! :(

For the affidavit of support, I was a college student, but am currently hunting like mad for a job. I have yet to submit the k-1 visa but will be doing thus shortly.

Is there any way possible on the Biographic Form and the Affidavit that I can express that I am (will be re-attending in Spring) and was college student.

But I am earning some income per week for babysitting/pet sitting/housekeeping for my family, in between my furious job hunting. I know I sound rather pathetic, but was wondering if this is at all applicable as well.

Thank you for any advice and help in advance.

Everyone on this forum is so kind, well informed, and helpful.

Thank you again!!

Well, for starters, I think it sounds like you're self-employed so get receipts and be able to back it with proof of bank statements. You sound young so have you considered a co-sponsor?

Good luck

Sorry to say this, but there are income requirements that you must meet to be eligible to petition for a fiance visa. If you don't meet them, then you must wait until you can meet them. I can't imagine that a letter saying that you will earn some money babysitting will get you anywhere. Good luck.

If you have a co-sponsor your income will not matter because the co-sponsor relinquishes your legal responsibility if you become a charge to the state. Basically, the co-sponsor is stating that they will cover the cost, if you go on any kind of government support.

Thus, in your paper work they will see that you are a recent graduate. In my opinion, I would write a letter stating your situation and make a copy of your diploma and submit it in the paper work for the interview (reference your diploma as potential for higher income). Also, I would start the process as soon as possible, "THE REALITY IS" your going to be waiting at least "6-MONTHS" to get your interview; so you have plenty of time to find a job. Hope this helps.

You are worried about nothing.

The affidavit of support is not needed for the petition, it is presented at the interview several months later. They do not ask for your educational history on the G-325a and do not care, so there is no need to explain anything.

At the time of the interview, you will need to have have income or assets to support your fiancee OR a co-sponsor. At the time of the petition you do not need either. They do not give you good credit points for being a student (many K-1 applicants are and use a co-sponsor)

send in your petition when you are ready

My fiance isn't working because his kids were sick (all 3 of them have problems) so I can totally sympathise with you on the "pathetic" affidavit of support however as another poster said, there is time between now and the embassy interview to get work and obviously a co-sponsor will be a big help. When my fiance and I first decided to get married, he applied for a K1 visa through an online agency - it was a con and we didnt figure that out for many months. Now we sent the real application off on 10th November but because he didnt send an official divorce certificate with an embossed seal, we're not likely to get an NAO1 until the New Year, setting us back another couple of months. You can also see on one of the other poster's timelines that they got denied a K1 in the past. So it's not a bed of roses but so many of us are in the same boat and most people on VJ are very helpful indeed. I hope that you and I and everyone else on VJ reaches their goal as quickly and smoothly as possible and that we can support each other when things don't go according to plan.

Best wishes and good luck,

C

That is the reason why there is the ability to have a co-sponsor. Don't give the girl a heart attack needlessly.

I doubt I gave her a heart attack, because she states that she knows about co-sponsors in her initial post. Therefore, I can only assume that her question pertains to applying without a co-sponsor.

Thank you Malrothien. Yeah that comment was a bit mean...

Any help/suggestions/advice is appreciated though :)

I think he meant to say, "No Money No Honey." I hope things do look up for you. Why not save up a couple years first and do things proper? Cheers. :star:

Exactly.

Sounds like the OP is young and has plenty of time to get well situated before "making the plunge". Why start off "in the hole"?

Being broke puts LOTS of unneeded pressure on relationships.

Thank you Malrothien. Yeah that comment was a bit mean...

Thats's not close to being mean! Just GOOD advice if you want a relationship to be successful.

Get your act together before you act!
