Hey Alan - just stopped by to see how things were going for you and so am really pleased to say yay! Sounds like you're finally getting there! I'm sorry you had to whoop behinds to see some of the action - so much for their mission statement...

And agreed, private corporation would be bust. But unfortunately, like any long, drawn out and emotionally stressful journey, by the time it feels "safe" to complain, most people have run out of steam and honestly can't invest the energy in complaining.

So crossing fingers for your NOA2 and a very hasty NVC and embassy experience!

Best wishes,

Tish

Hi Tish!

Bet you're getting excited getting ready for the interview! Can't wait for you to land on our shores and Welcome to the USA...

I hope this part of my journey is over soon (NOA2). Thanks to Franc I have a copy of his Packet 3 and used his packet as a checklist for Vanessa's interview. We're all ready except for the medical - but thanks to my Congressman I have Vanessa's "A" number and she'll be getting her physical on Wednesday. As soon as the Embassy receives Vanessa's I-129F and notifies her we'll schedule the interview. Hoping to have my girls here by mid-May.

Best of luck in your interview - I'm rooting for you!

Alan

Way to go Alan! Get the medical down! I have my Wilma doing her medical this week, then interview on 27th, and we're also planning for a mid May "welcome home". Just a few more steps to go....

You should be getting your NOA2 email tomorrow, hardcopy follows about 3-4 days later.

To all my "family" here on VJ...

I just wanted to take a moment and share with you how much I value your kind words, encouragement and good wishes. You have no idea how much I appreciate everyone taking time out of their busy day to root me on.

Some people have expressed their thoughts to me via PM that I should just "wait my turn" and let the USCIS process the I-129F petition in the manner that they do, not to worry about it and just relax. I wanted to publically explain why the NOA2 has become very important...

Vanessa and I found out about one month ago that her mom has inoperable stage 4 cancer of the colon and liver. Her mom was hospitalized for over 3 weeks and was released to go home last week. Her prognosis is not good - we're told 4-6 months. No treatment is being done, just pain medication.

When Vanessa told me on the phone about her mom's condition, my initial reaction was that we'd put the visa on hold extend the expiration and if necessary, re-file at a later date. Vanessa went to see her mom in the hospital the next hay and INSISTED that Vanessa and I proceed with our plans and not delay at all. Her mom's exact words to Vanessa was "I don't want you to stay here and watch me die". When Vanessa called me that night and asked my opinion I wouldn't give it. I told her that whatever she decided I'd support and I refused to give Vanessa advice as to what to do regarding the visa. Vanessa decided that she'd honor her mom's wishes and not put our plans on hold.

Vanessa's mom's position was that Miranda (Vanessa's 6 year old daughter) needed to come here as soon as possible in order to attend the English classes that I'd reserved for her. She speaks very minimal english and we'd like her to be able to start school here at the end of August. If she can't speak English she'd have to miss a full year of school and she's already a year behind due to the age that children start school in Costa Rica.

After seeing that my petiton wasn't even touched after all this time I decided to involve my Congressman. I wrote a letter to him explaining the situation about Vanessa's mom and how important it was that our I-129F proceed as quickly as possible. For those who haven't followed along, the Congressman himself actually got on the phone with USCIS and asked them to speed up our petition. That very day I received a touch, the next day another touch - so I assume that the NOA2 is forthcoming.

My plan is to get Vanessa and Miranda here as soon as possible and for us to get married. Miranda will start English classes and stay here with me to attend school at the beginning of the school year. I'll then file for an expedited emergency advance parole which will permit Vanessa to travel to Costa Rica to be with her mom and will allow her to re-enter the USA before AOS. The Congressman has offered to help us with the expedited AP once she arrives so Vanessa can be there to say goodbye to her mom.

Vanessa and I have never argued before, but we had a good one when I told her of my plans. Vanessa had accepted that once she arrived here that she wouldn't have the chance to return home to take care of her mom in her last days and to say goodbye. Once I told her that we'd be able to get her an expedited AP and Miranda would stay home with me while she took care of her mom Vanessa cried (and I've never heard her cry before)... Vanessa asked me if I was sure that I wouldn't mind her leaving soon after we're married and taking care of Miranda and I've never been more sure about anything in my life before.

So - that's why I decided to get the Congressman involved and to try all I can to speed up my NOA2. I'll be able to honor Vanessa's mom's final wishes and at the same time allow my soon to be wife to spend her mom's last days with her and to say goodbye when the time comes.

Thanks again to all of you who have been so kind and suppoortive. Vanessa and I love you more than you can ever know.

Alan

Hey Alan, you've given me and other VJ'rs consistently good advice. From the months you and I have traded PMs and posts, all I can say is Vanessa is getting one hell of good future husband and Miranda is getting an awesome future step dad!!

Good luck and God bless!

I'm seconding what Johnny has said, Miranda and Vanessa are quite fortunate to have you in their lives, as I've told you before. I had no idea people would have the nerve to PM you to suggest that you wait your turn. If you want to go after what you think is fair, why would individuals suggest that no, you should hold back? I feel bad for you because of that; people should be more encouraging. Or maybe their intentions were good and they didn't want to see it backfire on you, who's to say... but I'm so happy that the situation is looking up and that by the end of next month, you'll have your whole beautiful family. Gosh, what did people do 30 years ago without the help of internet support groups like this, where people from all over the world could share and compare experiences?
