I'm new here. My name is Alejandra and I'm a LPR. My mom, a USC petitioned for me under the 245i law and I got my GC on January 31st, 2005.

I'm originally from Argentina, and this month I will be applying for my naturalization.

I hope I can help people that are going through similar processes.

Hola Chester,

Gracias! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm from Cordoba, a province in Central Argentina. I'll let you know about my process.

Once you're a citizen, do you plan to file for your fiance?

hola chester,

If you're married you can't file for fiance. To file for fiance you have to be a USC and have a long distance relationship with your girlfriend. She would then get a visa, a permit to come to the US to marry you within 90 days.

Since you've planned to marry her in Argentina you'll have to file for a spousal petition, not as your fiance.

You have several options once you marry her, You have the spouse petition through consular process. meaning she will have her interview at the US Embassy in Bs As and she will come to the US with her residency. You can file as a lPR then change your status once you become a uSC or wait until you're a USC to file for her.

Also if you're a USC, you can file the K3. It's similiar to the K1, but for spouses of a USC who live abroad. It's a visa or permit that will allow the spouse to legally come in the US and adjust status and receive the GC in the US

There's a lot to think about.

Hi, my name is Myra and I am new here too. My husband is in Jamaica waiting for teh CSC to move along quickly. We were marrie don March 27, 2009. We started the process late because we were'nt sure if we wanted a lawyer or not. I received my NOA1 for CR1 petition 09/29/09 and my NOA1 for I129F 10/9/09. My case was last updated on 10/15/09 and nothing since. IT is very frustrating, but I am happy to see I am not the only one going through this process.
