Greetings,

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum. I have a problem and need advice. My employer of 33 years (Auto Worker in Michigan) has closed the plant. When i filed the AOS package i included my last 3 years of tax returns and all other information requested. I am now collecting unemployment. I filed a K-1 K-2 for fiancee and stepson, married in the 90 day period. I am concerned that at the interview we will have problems now with my income and the interview is on January 17th. We also have a newborn little girl. All other things have gone well the authorization for employment for and the parole for travel for wife and stepson. I am thinking should i have my sister be a co-sponser for my wife and step-son? She has agreed and makes very good money. If so is it the form i-864 she needs to fill out and would that be done for both of them? 2 seperate forms? Also can you produce copys of the birth certificates as this stuff has already been submitted early in the process, Along with the medical records. Everything was going smooth untill my plant closed and now just worried sick. Thankyou for taking the time to read this and thankyou in advance for your awaited imput.

:help: Respectfully,

Ken and Evelyn

Sorry to hear about your situation, Ken.

I am going to move your question to the proper forum.

You should be prepared at your interview with a new form I-864 for both your wife and stepson.

The question of your employment may or may not arise at the interview. Technically, I-864 is supposed to stand as the date of submission. As I am sure you are aware, many persons have their status adjusted without an interview. Nobody rings up their sponsors and inquires if they are still employed. However, you and your wife are being interviewed. It's possible the AO may query as to whether or not your financial picture has changed. If so, best to be prepared with two new I-864's executed by your sister.

If nobody brings it up at the interview - then nobody brings it up.

I had my interview for AOS in detroit last week.. the officer specifically asked if anything had changed since the time i submited the documentation.. some things had so I provided him with the info. I hope everything goes ok with the AOS but if its any consolation, the person I was interviewed by was super nice

It is no consolation the person was super-nice. If your affidavit as updated is determined not to be adequate, then you will be given the opportunity to get a joint sponsor. I would line one up just in case

Thankyou all for your imput to my question. One thing i still don`t know is can you submit copys of birth certificates. for me,wife stepson and my sister (who will be joint sponsor)? All original were submitted early in the process except for sisters (co-sponser) i-864 which i will bring to interview. Also what are best documents to bring to prove i have been a life long citizen in the good ol` USA? Salamat for all the help.

We had our interview in Detroit, Michigan last week. We weren't asked for further copies of birth certificates as they were all there in the file. She asked for both our passports & ID's

You will be asked what you do for a living. She did ask what my hubby did for work & if everything was going well with that (he's self employed). However, he wasn't asked for proof of earnings since we filed.

Good Luck

if you can get additional paperwork then try and do so..

the interviewer asked me a couple of questions, asked if anything had changed.. in our case the husband had started a new job.. so he asked if we have proof of that, which i did.. and that was it.. never showed him anything other than the employement authorisation card, and our passports..

during the interview i was asked if I had a job and when i said no i was trying, the interviewer started telling me about jobs he had hear of.. so just remember they are human beings too.
