Can anyone recommend a good website with information regarding moving belongings to the U.S.? My fiance has the shipping company selected, and we want to send it to Wash. DC. But what happens once it gets here? Are there there any fees when she claims her stuff?

Any help or advice inn this area is appreciated.

It is best to ask the shipping company. They know the custom procedure, etc.

I'll be in the same situation like you plus I've to travell with my cats.

I called our local shipping company and they described me the whole process. My things will be in container shipping to Boston and wait in the warehouse on my fiance to pick them.

I have to declare all the things and make a complete list, go with the list to notarization and put it on the boxes. It is for the customs purposes. Maybe it's different in your country, but in Croatia we have to do like that.

Somebody from the shipping company will come for my stuff, make a homologization, put the things in container, ship it to Kopar in Slovenia then in Hamburg and after that to Boston. It will takes about 5-6 weeks.
