they are not filing now they are just getting the paperwork together so that they can file as soon as her divorce is finalized..

Ya, I had re-read the post 3 times, trying to figure out who was who ;)

Once I figured it out, I 'zapped my reply' - but hei - you were faster than me:D

to the OP -disregard what was quoted from me.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Garnet80,

That's great that you decided to go the K-1 route!

(by the way, cute pic that you have in your profile too...)

As for adding the Canadian on the US bank account and other financial information...A lot of US banks and financial instuituions won't let you do that, unless they get a SSN. And you can't get an SSN, until they have some form of permanent residency status and not just a visitor (or at least until when the k1 is approved). So you might have to hold off on that. In the meantime, whatever else you can find that is "joint evidence", to prove a "genuine relationship" is equally as helpful too (eg. letters, cards, photos, correspondences, tickets, etc.).

As for the age difference...Doesn't matter...All they care about is a) both parties are 'free and legal' to marry into the new relationship b ) the couples are indeed in a genuine relationship, not for immigration fraud or other illegal purposes c) and that the USC is able to support the immigrant financially (that can be proven through the I-134 form and the I-864 forms)......

Lol..in my case, my husband is a lot older than I am (lol..15+ years older...) and it was never an issue, immigration-wise. They never asked or cared about such age differences...After all, age is just a number, right? And love has no numbers....;)

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey (lol..it's going to be a long one, as everyone's immigration journey is long anyways), and hope that you'll find all the help and support that you need here on visa journey too!

After the drama of http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=232234 and a few days thought, we have decided to file for the K-1. Totally not what we wanted to... we are both worried that we have "red flags" in our relationship. I am 11 years older than my fiance (and to get it out of the way, he is 18, I am 29. we met on WoW, and everyone just assumed he was 20s, 30s... ages weren't really discussed? when I did learn his age, YES of course it was a lot to think about... but he is a person, not a number. he is more mature than the male friends my own age lol. we are so happy together, such a good match. both sets of parents give their blessings... so it is what it is.) , we have only met in person twice (and both while I was legally married, although this second trip I have been in the divorce process, just waiting on court date, which is 1/8). So we're worried. :/

Also worried that the no eos/cos stamped in his passport will be a hinderance to this process? Will that matter?

We are going to get the packet together while he is still here. Everything except my divorce papers I guess, and then I mail the second I am legally single again.

I wanted to add him to my checking and savings account while he is here... can anyone think of a reason this is a bad idea?

I hope we're making a wise decision. Everyone we asked had a different opinion. This seems like a reasonable way to go... and as I understand it, his living by the Vancouver side will mean faster processing than if he lived farther east? Something like that?

Anyways, after this, I guess off to the K1 forum with those questions as they arise. Thank you all for your help through this. This is a truly wonderful board and we are so glad we were directed here a few months ago with our very first questions. :)
