Hi guys,

Feels like I keep coming here for questions, hope you all dont mind!

My fiance and I are sending in the papers in early Jan 2010, we spoke about what forms we need to fill out later when the NOA2 comes and he told me his friend would sponsor me aswell. Is it possible? Having two persons sponsor me on the K-1? Of course my fiance are the one bringing me into the US, but it seems like his friend (who by the way are a MILLIONAIRE) wanted to help out and be a sponsor aswell. This would of course be nothing but good news if it is possible :D

Good news for you!

Yes, you can have as many sponsors you need. But the sponsor is your fiance and her friend will be the joint-sponsor. Both of them have to fill out the forms. Good luck!

When reading that, I find the statement to be a little confusing.

You really only have one sponsor for the I-134. If one reads the instructions for the form, one will find no language which makes reference to a 'co-sponsor'. Some consulates will want the petitioner to complete an affidavit even if they don't qualify financially, and another affidavit from a qualified sponsor.

And sponsors cannot combine income to come up with the magic number. A consulate will look for one qualified individual.

Yes, I agree w/ RebeccaJo. Better to have one really qualified co-sponsor. My fiancee submitted my I-134 as well as a secondary I-134 from my mother just because my tax returns weren't so great from last year. Also, if that person can be an immediate family member this may give an edge compared to a distant relative or friend (that is more consul specific). It doesn't mean the CO will not except a friend or distant relative. From what I have read it is usually more preferred, and it really depends on the CO and the embassy.

If your fiancee lacks the means to sponsor you, YES, you can use a co-sponsor. If he does have the financial means you do not need a co-sopnsor and it does not matter.

Any US citizen can co-sponsor. Be very careful in choosing this person. For the visa is not so important but if you also need them for the AOS, remember that this person can cause you a lot of problems by wihtdrawing their support at any time and leave you hanging. Trust and loyalty rank far above being a millionaire which means virtually nothing in this process. If your fiancee makes more than $18,212 per year...like a full time job at a fast food restaraunt, then he is JUST AS QUALIFIED as any old dime-a-dozen millionare to sponsor you.
