Anybody here will file DCF by next year January 2010?

We plan on applying in January too!! I hope we get everything together in time!!! I'm really just starting getting the documents together now!!

We mailed off for his police certificate from the UK (he lived there for 3 years) so hopefully it'll be here by the end of Jan....but as we don't need that until the final interview I'm pretty sure we'll be ready to apply in Jan!

Tom and rizza, why dont you just call them more faster respond? We are going to the USE Manila first week of January to personally inquire and get all the complete rqmts to make sure nothing have change on DCF filing...

For some additional perspective, here is a response I received.

I sent a question about DCF to the US Embassy in Panama, who sent it to the State Department, who then sent it to Dept. of Homeland Security (!)

They said:

"In order for you (The Petitioner) to file an I-130 immigrant visa petition for your spouse, parents, or children (The beneficiaries) at our office, you must be a United States Citizen and a Legal Resident of Panama and must present proof of this with but not limited (receipts minimum 6 months light, water, telephone, bank accounts, job letter under your name) together with supporting documents."

I'm debating whether or not to give it a try. I've been here just over 6 months, I've got a visa especial good for 5 years residence, and have a work contract and lease, but none of the bills are in my name, and my bank account is only a month old. (Yes, it can take 5 months to get a bank account in Panama. It took 6 weeks to get a marriage license.)

I filed a petition here in Sydney Aust. and the only thing they needed was my permanent residency visa as proof of legal residency. But different consulates vary. When I asked my answer was provided directly by the officer handling the petitions email, rather than being sent around to the various departments.

Hi E&J here in the Philippines yopu cannot get a bank account unless you are a permanent resident with a acr-i card, it's not a law but required by most all Philippine banks

Yeah ur right! Me and my husband's joint bank acount was just recently opened last october 2009 after he got his ACR card and yes they asked for it! Dont know if that would be a good idea to include it on our 1-130 as joint ownership bcoz it was jst opened 3 months ago. What do you think guys?

I'll make sure to let you folks know how my experience turns out - I think we'll be pushing the envelope of what is acceptable for a DCF. I've been in Panama 6 months and will be leaving next month; we have been married one month; bank account open for only one month; and no utility bills because either my employer or landlord covers everything. I've got a dated work contract and "visa especial" in my favor, but not a whole lot else...

Getting ready to file hopefully by next week. They want my USC husband to prove his permanent residency here int eh PI since his ACR card is on probationary. By the way, what does permanent residency means , is that having ACR card with PR status or just a consistent living here in the PI..

Sent I-130 Jan 25 to Toronto

Emailed Consulate Feb 11, they confirmed they have the petition (but money order still outstanding), usually takes 2-5 weeks to schedule appointments once they input the file.

Hi Birdnerd! We're still waiting to hear from USE but too early to make follow ups. We filed 1-130 just this Jan. 29 and we were told to call them after 1 month....

Our petition was accepted in Toronto - took one month from submitting the I-130 to appointment date. Now waiting for it to be approved by Montreal, and then receive an interview date.

very frustrated with Manila Embassy, it too has been 6 weeks for us and two e-mails and not even the courtesy of a status update
