I do read what you post - and I did post a counter-opinion to wife_of_mahmoud's article

about the poor little girl who was shot by an Israeli army officer.

Look, I'm not saying the IDF are perfect -- no army is. You think the British soldiers

in Iraq are angels who never shot a civilian for a laugh? Yes, it's another story but what

bothers me are the double standards used by you and other people when talking about

Israel and the IDF. When Americans kill 1,000 Iraqis in one blast, no-one gives a #######

(hey it's Yanks what can ya do), but when an Israeli soldier kills a Palestinian girl, it's

plastered all over the headlines. All that I'm asking for is fairness.

plastered all over the headlines. All that I'm asking for is fairness.

In the spirit of fairness, it would nice if you admitted that I, for one, and Erekose and others as well, have posted quite a few times about the horrifying bloodshed in Iraq, specifically at the hands of the U.S., and specifically about the entire invasion being based on a shameless lie created by the neocons.

We could get into who exactly the neocons are, and who specifically this war was intended to benefit, but that's another thread....

How is that even the same?

So you think there are no headlines of when a Israli dies? There is alot less media about Israli violence. However when an arab commits an act of violence its everywhere! Fairness? Ya we already know that there is alot of violence by "arab terrorists", we see it everyday. What you don't see reports of how much violence is done by Israel itself, which is why everyone sees them as the "victem"

The sad part is when news is reported of an Israli act of violence, its always deemed as being deserved. Somehow it always gets justified.

I think we will never have a fair debate on this issue, because ultimately noone wants to listen. That's quite sad really...

Somehow whenever someone criticises Israel, someone always seems to interpret it to mean that that they are sympathetic to terrorists. And vice-versa.

The massive loss of life in Iraq was obscured by the political shenanigans surrounding the justification of the conflict. Those questions are important, to be sure, but massive civilian loss of life (numbering in the 1000's) is far from justifiable - and it only underscores the dishonesty that got us into this mess.

That said, all loss of life is terrible. With regards to Israel/Lebanon there is a significant disparity between the loss of civilian life on each side - make of that what you will. The media tends to pitch its tent in one camp or other - there really is no 'big picture' perspective on display.

Ya I understand, it's just a few hundred Lebanese, who needs them anyway. You want to compare the Iraq and Lebanon? It took the Israel less than 2 weeks to destroy the country. Yet they say "we will see several more weeks of attacks" The USA/UK has not done that much damage in the country of Iraq in the last 3 years. 3 years to 2 weeks.....how can you even compare? Dont' forget alot of the death count among Iraqi's is due to the 2 sects of religion killing each other.
