The "line" outside is "Russian-style" so getting there early to get a good spot doesn't necessarily mean she'll get inside any earlier. She will have to check in with the security guard so a few minutes before 8:00 is fine. Once inside, it seems they're called in random order anyway.

I have heard zero benefit of being early other than to test the warmth of your jacket, hat, gloves, boots, scarf, etc.

thanks guys. yes, i figured something like 7.40-7.45 should be good. It will be something like -16 there that day and im trying to tell my mom to not arrive there so early that shes freezing outside for an hour!

Yes, Tanya said she got there like 10 mins before and it does not matter, as once you get inside they call the people in no particular order she could tell. If you were there very early and first to come inside, it did not matter at all. She said she was one of the last to get inside, but was one of the early ones called. She thinks it is up to your appointment time, that is all that matters.

Zhanna said the same. No rhyme or reason. She got their at 7:15. There were still ppl ahead of her and she was the 4th or 5th to interview.

Yes these people are correct. My wife and I got there at 7:15 in the morning and it didn't matter because she was like the third in line but the fifth to be interviewed in her visa type.

They don't even open the door until 8am.
