Phoenix for us :-) I have been in Glasgow most of my life so, not much different there!! I love the dry climate there tho - might just be the damp foggy weather we have here at the mo - but I am soooo looking forward to some AZ sun B)

Constant sun and heat gets just as tedious after a while

I am so glad to meet you all! Although there are so many people here on VJ sometimes the community still seems small. It's especially nice to see all the wedding and baby photos...proof that there will be a life after all this paperwork! Thank you all for responding, and I hope to keep in touch!

CaMic! I LIVE in Arkansas!!! How did you like it here and better yet were you here while it was hot and how did you do in it? I am certian Rob is going to spontaneiously combust when he exits the plane! I am of the opinion that Southern Scotland/Northern England looks identical to Arkansas...just replace the sheep in the fields with cattle.

I'm the one who has been over to the States numerous times as you USC's get lousy holiday entitlement compared to us Brits!

Yes, we do have ####### vacation benefits. I will have to work at my current job 10 years to get 3 weeks of holiday...BLEH.

Lioncub4- Keep that baby away from me! I would seriously pinch his cheeks! To cute!

Hello there. My Glaswegian husband and I met on line in July of 2004 on a site called Just Chat UK, and married in June of 2006. I was only looking for a penpal at first believe it or not! Lived with him on the Isle of Man for a couple of years and then in Glasgow until last year. It was a wonderful experience and I made some fantastic friends. There are many things I miss about it, except for the weather and how long things can take to get done. Guess I'm just another impatient American, lol. Anyway, we are just about ready to send in the DS230 but waiting on more documents from the Isle of Man. Good luck to everyone else in the group!

Hi, C and I definitely did not meet on WoW (she has no interest ;-) ) but I played rather a lot until I met her, Turalyon-EU.

Reformed WoW player? Tisk tisk! I still play...still a druid, although I started Horde on a pvp server, but my lame friends made me go Alliance on a RP server...BLEH!

Nice to meet you too!

Isn't it amazing how the most innocent conversations can change your whole life?

You know, I thought I did not like the constant rain in Scotland and swore I could never live there based on that alone, but I came home here...to a record breaking year of rainfall...LOL I guess I COULD live there. We also went to Lossiemouth to visit some of his family and 50-60 degrees in JULY is just wrong...WRONG I SAY!

My husband is Scottish and we met online in 2007, in person in 2008 and married 5 months ago in Skye. We have our interview set in London for Jan 25th and with any luck will be living together by Valentine's day. It has been difficult but I think it has made us stronger and closer because we handled the entire process together. What parts of the country will you be living in after you get your visas? He is moving from Livingston (nearest big city is Edinburgh i think) to north of Boston, MA in the US.

We will be living in Salt Lake City at least until I finish my education. He has 'loads' of friends in Boston and I have always had a lot going on in Southern California. We cannot rule out the possibility of moving to either of those places in the next few years. What a small world it is anyways ;)

Hey I see you got your interview Jan 4th! Congrats! We got Jan 25th. We have flights booked and are scoping out places to stay in London walking distance to the embassy. My only priorities are clean and safe as I read some trip advisor reviews about bedbugs!

My son plays WOW but to me it may as well be a foreign language.

I keep hearing about how wet and rainy Scotland is but honestly every time I have been for a visit we got good weather. It rained on our wedding day but we were in Skye so we were kinda expecting it. By the time we arrived at the registrar it had stopped. We got caught in a downpour another day while out for a walk but pretty much the weather was like home. The craziest thing was Plockton. There were palm trees! I sure wasn't expecting to find those in Scotland.

When we met on match we were each looking for someone in our own area. It was a fluke or a co mputer glitch or maybe fte or destiny when we got each other. I sent a note and said something like wouldn't it be crazy if we got toether? He thought maybe I'd be a fun pen pal. Who could have known a few months later we would meet and fall madly in love? Certainly not us!

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

Yep, my Dave is probably taking the sleeper train down again. Are you meeting your David in London for the interview? If so I am slightly jealous! It can't be much longer!! Now it's only 20 more days for us.

Also, in about 2 days and a few hours the Lioncub4 couple will let us know how it went for him. YAY! I can't wait!

Thanks, Jewel-8! I hope so too! NO one is in a hurry on the island and things that are out of the ordinary throw them into a tailspin. One time I had a lengthy argument with an insurance woman over there about our change of address to Glasgow. I told her it was 1/1 (for the apartment) and then the street number. She told me that couldn't possibly be correct. For goodness sake, I was living at that address! Anyway, thanks for the encouragement.

Wow! I hope they have that in the post for you soon. This process is bad enough without an extra government causing delays! lol

Dave purchased his train tickets and booked a hotel room for his interview. Almost three weeks in advance. :luv: I am so happy that it has been taken care of and he won't be suffering on the sleeper train again.

Yeah, he booked my flight so that we can meet in Heathrow. When I go home he can wait with me at my gate then go to his. We will be together Sat-Tues and te interview is Monday morning. We still need a room though.

He is coming over here for the holidays if British airways doesnt completely muck it up with thier stupid strike. At a time when people are unemployed I feel zero sympathy for the cabin crew especially after seeing they make more than most people. If they sall got canned and replaced maybe they would think twice about doing it again. I'm so worried about all our plans being ruined. He was supposed to arrive Christmas eve. My birthday is the 27th and he was staying until the 5th.

David flew to London for his medical and was back the same evening.

We took a train to New York City last yr. If time wasnt an option a train ride might have been fun.

You must be getting frustrated with people like that. I've got no patience for it. It figures it isnt even like it is someplace easily accessible. Hopefully you will have all you need soon.

I was disappointed in the strike myself. I was kind of hoping the prices of tickets would go down for the holiday and they have skyrocketed instead. GRRRR.
