Allo, allo everyone!!!

I received my visa last week but just got to my parents this week to finally take a look at it.

My mom said she had a really hard time taking it out of the mail box (my parents live in an apt.) and ended up ripping the xpresspost envelope as well as a bit of the sides of the brown sealed envelope that I have to submit at the POE (it's ripped at the bottom corners not at the top where you would open it).

Thanks CanadaPost...they really shouldn't have shoved it in and should have just left it at the nearest post office for me to pick up *gosh*!

Although it is obvious that I didn't attempt to open the envelope, I'm still a bit concerned about the rips...will the border agents give me a hard time???

In the meantime, just wanna say thank you to everyone on here, I don't come on here often but you all have provided great information and advice since I've joined and I'm extremely grateful for it - wishing everyone WONDERFUL & JOYOUS HOLIDAYS

Wow...that's pretty horrible of Canada Post. Was it the National mailer that you typically have to sign for? If so, you should call Canada Post and complain...

As for the envelope, I recall another person in the recent past who had a tear on the envelope, and they didn't have a problem. As long as it's clear that you didn't try to open it, it should be okay. Since you're not planning on moving down until after Christmas, you might have time to email Montreal (and get a response) about it. If they email back, then print it out and take it to the border with you, just as an indication that you're being on the level.

I don't think you have much recourse at this juncture otherwise, but as long as the tear isn't too bad, I think you'll be fine. Good luck and congrats!

Thank you all for replying and easing my nerves, seriously..'cause I've been tripping out and my fiance is saying that I'm getting all worried and stressed out for nothing. Yah, there really isn't anything I can do.

As far as emailing the Consulate, I did..and I doubt I'll get a reply back from them, but it's all good, I don't take it personal anymore, lol.

But seriously, CanadaPost really needs to step up their game 'cause I will NEVER use them again!

We live in the countryside, so we have one of those like half dome looking mailboxes. It got shoved in there.

Man, can they not see it''s from the US consulate and that it's important?

Maybe I should file a complaint to Canada Post, even though it's been a while.

Make it 3. I went and signed for mine, since I wasn't home during the day when they delivered the mail.

I've actually have relatively decent experiences with Canada Post. Amusingly enough, when my medical results were sent via FedEx, the box was just shoved between our front screen door and the main door. lol! Oh well.... At least with that one I didn't have to go all the way to the Fed Ex depot across town to track it down.

I'm convinced it's a conspiracy, led by the scores of Candadian PRs who work for the post office - they see your papers, get mad they couldn't make it into the USA (d@mmit, we're stuck in Canada, its too f'ing cold! ) then just throw it in, anyway they want.

I TOTALLY know you're joking, but...

I find it amazing how many Americans believe that Canada is so much colder than the U.S. I'd venture to guess that about half of the states have similarly cold weather during the winter months as Canadian cities... In the ballpark at least.

I'm too lazy to delve into the statistics though.
