Danno's correct that most of population growth isn't in the developed world so the sustainability arguments are largely about those in rich nations using more than their share of resources. By most standards, the quality of life is superior in our nasty rich nations and many in the developed world haven't figured out or cared enough about birth control to put it in practice.

If people really want to understand something about sustainability, they need to look at commodity prices to know there hasn't been a steady climb in prices despite their being three billion more people alive now than when I was born. Many in the world won't have as much stuff and there there's always a market when people have money. The worst case would be a mass die off but that happens now in famine areas but not worldwide.

Yeah, that's about it. Pretty neatly puts forward your rather nasty world view. Bravo!

Actually it's the far-Left who keep projecting their warped world view (complete with dooms-day predictions which never materialize).

Really, instead of reading all this political propaganda, actually read about real environmental stories. It's interesting.

Most of what I was referring to came from the class room, not the web.

It used to be Bolsheviks in people's toilets. Now its liberals.

that's usually the case. :innocent:

Don't mess with representing people as nouns when you're thinking about the nouns you liberally (adverb) place in your toilet. ;)

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The alternative was to mock your Dr. Dolittle post on animals living alongside humans. It got sillier after that opener.

Advocating bio-diversity has nothing to do with Dr. Doolittle or sentimental notions about animals.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

The whole world needs to adopt China's one-child policy!!!

Certainly not the parents that are well educated and can support children. After a couple of my kids to give me more grandkids, but too busy working and making lots of money to do that.

I was guardian of two, adopted two, had four the hard way, and now two step kids. Wife never had to work, the tenth one is starting her 3rd year in college. Paid their way through college and they always had medical and dental insurance I paid for.

But what really pisses me off is having to also pay for other people's kids, why aren't they working their asses off like I had to? Those are the people that should not have kids, but are having them quicker than I can pay for them. Damn property taxes skyrocketed again mainly due to school cost and buying insurance for kids that don't have it from their parents.

Not sure where you are trying to go with this. Some of those kids have no parents, others have parents that work their rear ends off and still are where they are... and then there are some that do have deadbeats for parents. Lumping people together like that is what intellectually lazy people do when they have a particular selfish reason for being the way they are. I think you are not like that at all.

You post was open to speculation due to the wording.

Environmentalists have always and still are seeking to demonstrate ways in which humans can successfully inhabit this planet alongside the diversity of other living species.

Sing along(side) with the animals, shall we?

If we could talk to the animals, just imagine it

Chatting to a chimp in chimpanzee

Imagine talking to a tiger, chatting to a cheetah

What a neat achievement that would be.

If we could talk to the animals, learn their languages

Maybe take an animal degree.

We'd study elephant and eagle, buffalo and beagle,

Alligator, guinea pig, and flea.

We would converse in polar bear and python,

And we could curse in fluent kangaroo.

If people asked us, can you speak in rhinoceros,

We'd say, "Of courserous, can't you?"

If we could talk to the animals, learn their languages

Think of all the things we could discuss

If we could walk with the animals, talk with the animals,

Grunt and squeak and squawk with the animals,

And they could squeak and squawk and speak and talk to us.

How mindlessly unriveting.

It riveted your mind long enough to post.

Now please pass the hand sanitizer, Charles.
