Time was when you could simply get a job at lowes and have coverage but since the "Obama recover act" has been slow in getting traction.... and in fact, things continue to get worse, I doubt even lowes is hiring.

Even so, I see a lot of jobs listed on Craigslist.org

I took a well-earned (by you) jab at your duplicity in marrying a foreign born person but implying other legal immigrants aren't somehow 'worthy'.

I am 52 years old. I can remember when first getting out of college that if one was willing to take a job, your employer could afford to offer health insurance. Try not to insult people with the reference to Lowe's, as if it's some implication that any loser could get health insurance in the 'old days'. A mere thirty years ago, if you were willing to work just about anywhere, insurance was an earned benefit.

I'm starting to get the impression from you that it's not enough for people to just get a job - they need to get a job that takes them somewhere above your definition of "Lowe's employee". I suppose it's just too much for you to fathom that it's not the fault of those willing to work (even at Lowe's!) that they have no health cover. It's the fact that health care costs have accelerated faster than the rate of inflation. It's the fact that insurance companies not only need to make enough money to pay those costs, but they've decided to skip the lessons learned in Econ 101 and want to compete for investor dollars as if their product were a luxury rather than one of life's necessities.

In a mere 30 years (in my lifetime in the workplace) I have watched American business become hostage to the rising cost of health care. I have watched workers go from being proud of putting food on the table and a roof over their families head to shame because that labor isn't worth enough to their employer to allow an affordable benefit. I have watched regular working class people become "losers" in the eyes of persons such as yourself who think it's oh-so-simple for them to get off their ####### and dial up a government job.

Somebody has to clerk behind the counter at your drycleaners, Danno. Somebody has to sweep the floors at your Wal-Mart and somebody has to answer the phone at the garage who services your car. Are these people so beneath you that they don't deserve the self-respect of wellness?

Read the original post. Most of it is bellyaching about legal entrants.

BAck to your position then.... someone comes here to "visit" or attend school on a visa....... and we are obligated to treat them for free?

How do you feel about LPRs?

LPRs are also not the same as Citizens and in no way are due the same benny's.

They are free to buy their own plan like most Americans do..... they have no right to be a drag on the country, that goes for my family as well as anyones.

I don't want to hear this ####### about them paying taxes.... they no doubt get their moneys worth in a hundred other ways.

I think an argument can me made where a LPR gives more then they get out. I know I did when I was a resident of the Uk....think about it.
