TRUE

And more inportant in the OP was the fact that American citizens – those with income below 100% of federal poverty (FPL) – have only one option Medicaid.

and legal aliens can receive the taxpayer-subsidy to choose whatever health insurance they want. This is fundamentally unfair. It treats immigrants better than American citizens!

As for the 5 year rule in one members post I'm ok with the 5yrs, one need to pay into the sys to recieve a fair share.

American citizens – those with income below 100% of federal poverty (FPL) – have only one option for their health insurance: Medicaid. At the same time, the bill gives similarly-situated legal aliens more health care choices than the American citizen. Legal aliens can receive the taxpayer-subsidy to choose whatever health insurance they want. This is fundamentally unfair. It treats immigrants better than American citizens

Gee. Only one option. Medicaid.

It's free and it covers damn near everything.

That's really just such a horrible choice.

Nothing is free ask anyone who is on Medicaid or for that matter anyone who has really been in a health crisis with Medicaid, hospital’s don’t make money off of Medicaid patients there for the quality of care is very low as apposed to privet insurances polices.

American citizens have only one option and legal aliens can choose whatever health ins. they want. That’s really a horrible choice!

LPRs are also not the same as Citizens and in no way are due the same benny's.

They are free to buy their own plan like most Americans do..... they have no right to be a drag on the country, that goes for my family as well as anyones.

I don't want to hear this ####### about them paying taxes.... they no doubt get their moneys worth in a hundred other ways.

PLease try to focus, this is not about Immigration but rather, are immigrants "entitled" to free healthcare services.

You don't mind being a drag on the whole.... you try to put a bow around that by graciously suggesting others should ride free too.

Danno -

I don't know if you are trying to be cute or not, but you really should watch your mouth. Because right now, my family has no health insurance. We don't qualify for Medicaid because I work. My husband (the LPR alien) lost his job in June. His job carried our health insurance. I could buy health insurance at my job, but (no $hit it's not an exaggeration) that would cost 45% of my take home pay. He's the one that really needs health insurance, as he has a genetic kidney disease. He's been busting his butt trying to find another job, but since you clearly have no clue about what life is like for working class people, there aren't a lot of jobs out there.

Nobody in our house is a "drag on the whole". We work. We don't get Medicaid - we don't get food stamps - we don't get housing assistance. Apparently though we don't work hard enough for you.

You really are a miserable out of touch bigot.

Actually, this is about whether immigrants are less entitled to free health care services than someone who doesn't pay taxes but was born here. I say no. That said, I agree it's unfair that an LPR has more options than a citizen.

Sounds like you have a tough situation. But unless your post was to try and get sympathy, I missed the point. You talk about how you don't get any public benefit and thus aren't a "drag on the whole." If that's true, I respect you for it. I hope your husband can find a job soon. You aren't a drag on the whole.

The question is, do you want to be? Do you feel that the taxpayers of America owe you something? If you don't, good for you. Stop complaining. If you do, why do you think you are so much better than someone who is "a drag on the whole"? Simply because the law doesn't let you?

My post was to Danno, who I believe was taking a dig at me. It certainly was not for sympathy, and you are pretty jaded if you think it was. And just in case all you are wanting to do is promote controversy rather than read what has been said, it is Danno who used the phrase 'drag on the whole'. I responded to that phrase.

What are you complaining about? All I said was that my family, a typical working class American family, is not using benefits. It's not ME that thinks that makes me better than someone else. It is ME explaining that getting sick shouldn't be about whether or not we can afford to be sick.

I realize some opponents of reform really like to try and manipulate the words of people. If that's a game you are trying to play here with me, you have chosen the wrong girl to pick a fight with.

THE CURRENT HEALTH CARE SYSTEM CONTAINS ILLEGAL ALIEN LOOPHOLES

Of which many on the hypocritical/lack of humanity side of the argument seem to argue there is not much of a problem with.

Sometimes I wish that only these azzholes would be the ones that got sick to have to use health care services, but chance, genetics, as well as place of birth, is a lot more random than that.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Why is it YOU can be cute.... but I can't?

YOu made the remark about my wife... even though it was nothing to do with the topic and I only replied in kind (except I was on-topic).

Look, let it be known, I am one who "lights a candle" rather than poke fun so let me suggest you go to http://usajobs.opm.gov and you might find a job which has insurance.

Time was when you could simply get a job at lowes and have coverage but since the "Obama recover act" has been slow in getting traction.... and in fact, things continue to get worse, I doubt even lowes is hiring.

Even so, I see a lot of jobs listed on Craigslist.org

Rebecca, it's a message board, don't take my shots too serious, just look at the shots I take for my stand on things as I resist the gutless liberal ideology; one of which doles out free healthcare to anyone who manages to get here..... but that simple prerequisite highlights their phoney mask.
