THE SENATE HEALTH CARE BILL CONTAINS ILLEGAL ALIEN LOOPHOLES

The Senate is currently considering the health care reform bill (H.R. 3590). As FAIR's Legislative Analysis concludes:

The Senate bill contains a loophole to allow illegal aliens to access taxpayer-funded health care benefits;

The Senate bill fails to effectively prevent illegal aliens from accessing the taxpayer-subsidized "exchange" marketplace; and

In a radical departure from current law, the Senate bill circumvents long-standing policies that would require legal immigrants to wait five years before accessing federal health care benefits.

As a result, the Senate health care bill promotes poor immigration policy and fails to protect the interests of the American taxpayers.

In addition, the Senate bill raises a new issue. Under the bill, low-income American citizens – those with income below 100% of federal poverty (FPL) – have only one option for their health insurance: Medicaid. At the same time, the bill gives similarly-situated legal aliens more health care choices than the American citizen. Legal aliens can receive the taxpayer-subsidy to choose whatever health insurance they want. This is fundamentally unfair. It treats immigrants better than American citizens

This is no secret, for one simple reason... there has to be some way to dole out healthcare to the 12 million people who piss on our laws and live here.

Pardon me, but if a LEGAL immigrant falls on hard times and needs to access public health care, they should very well be allowed to. The five year requirment has been nonsense for quite some time.

They are either working themselves or are married to a USC who is. They've paid taxes on those dollars earned. It's about time a legally admitted foreign-born tax-paying individual has the same rights as US born taxpayers.

And as a guest in your home, who has brought a cracker..... don't tell me I can't eat all I want from the kitchen and have all the rights and privileges of your family members.

I'm not debating if they should... or should not get coverage, I am taking shots at your silly notion they should "have every right a citizen does".

At any rate this subject is about ILLEGAL immigrants .

I agree. The legal immigrant's taxes will also be paying for the health care system, why should they not benefit from it?

Healthcare subsidies are only available to people who make less than 133% of the poverty level. People making that much money have an effective income tax rate of 0, almost certainly. Therefore, everyone who receives healthcare subsidies doesn't pay taxes. That is the problem here. I don't care whether they were born in Mexico, the Bronx, London, Chicago, Melbourne, San Diego, or Hong-Kong. Why are you so willing to subsidize someone you don't know who was born a US Citizen but think it's terrible if they were born in Juarez?

I think the reason we are all here is because we agree that being born a US Citizen doesn't make you a better or more deserving person.

I must commend you on such a humanist perspective. That has sadly been lost on many isolationists/supremacists. At times the concepts can be used interchangeably.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

TRUE

And more inportant in the OP was the fact that American citizens – those with income below 100% of federal poverty (FPL) – have only one option Medicaid.

and legal aliens can receive the taxpayer-subsidy to choose whatever health insurance they want. This is fundamentally unfair. It treats immigrants better than American citizens!

As for the 5 year rule in one members post I'm ok with the 5yrs, one need to pay into the sys to recieve a fair share.
