I know not everyone here supports the war and maybe not even our troops, I'm not posting this to start a debate or anything it's just something I find very cool and wanted to share.

I got this link through an email here at work and wanted to pass it along so that others can have the opportunity if they want.

Thanks everyone....and Happy Holidays!

Saying thanks to our troops should be followed by not saying thanks to our leaders. Have to have some balance here. At least people are not calling them baby killers anymore, not being called a baby killer is a good thing and was far more welcomed than being told, thanks. Someone buying you a beer also beat a word of thanks, but a good lay was even better.

 hmm, ok....as I said, not wanting to debate. If I could do something other than offer a word of thanks, I surely would. At the very least saying thanks is better in my opinion than remaining silent.

I'd would rather have heard "You're hired" as a vet rather than the "Thanks for serving". I didn't need a pat on the back just a chance to get back into the civilian world like everyone else.

Thanks!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Thank you, OP.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Agreed. I came back from Iraq in 2006, which was a low point for support for the war. However we were given a standing ovation at the Atlanta airport when we returned home. The support felt great, but when I applied for federal jobs (with veteran preference & a masters degree) I got exactly zero interviews. I also looked at the civilian sector and did get some interest, but the pay was half of what I got as an Army Major. Good thing I found an Army unit that needed full-time support.

Edit: I know President Obama has an initiative to stimulate jobs for vets, but I am not holding my breath.
