Can you send a K3 to a different consulate than the CR1?

On my paperwork, I indicated the Montreal consulate for both the I130 and I129f. Given how backed up Montreal is, can I have the I129f rerouted to Vancouver instead, and try to get an interview there faster?

Where do you live (which province)? Depending on your province, your K3 file goes to one of the consulate... you do not get to choose. See the details in the Wiki.

K visas are processed/interviewed at both Montreal and Vancouver, depending on your Province of Residence:

Manitoba and West: Vancouver

Ontario and East: Montreal

Thanks. I live in Ontario, but my family lives in Saskatchewan, so I theoretically could change my address to there if I wanted to. I'm not sure if that's really a legit thing to do, though, or if it is even worth the hassle of doing address changes now. For some reason, I thought I had filled out a spot on the form for which consulate I wanted.

Just to add that I'm also waiting on the Montreal Consulate and I would LOVE for them to redirect more cases to Vancouver and/or other consulates in Canada. I would even fly out West to get my interview sooner (I'm already in Montreal...)

ETA: I'm not sure about giving an address that is not "yours"... I can't remember if they ask for a postal address or the residential one.

I do not recommend 'changing' your address to your parents address since this is not honest. Montreal is moving faster now so it shouldn't be too behind Vancouver anyway

Would have to agree with Canadian Wife. Anything they can find to deny the case or send back to CIS for review, they will. Good luck.

Some people have done this - used a Western address - so it's not unheard of.

There is a spot on the form where they ask which consulate will be processing your visa - regardless of what you fill in it goes to the one based on your province of residence.
