Hello VJers,

Now that Jessie has her visa to come to the USA, I would like to take her to the UK this summer for vacation to see my family.

What documents do we need so Jessie can leave the USA for a foreign holiday and return to the USA?

How long does it take to get the proper documents to travel abroad?

How much does this cost?

Do I need a Lawyer?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Sincerely,

Doug and Jessie

She can leave any time, it's the getting back in that's a problem.

You may want to apply for Advance Parole so that she can reenter the US if you aren't sure that she will have the green card by then. You'll see that in the AOS Guide here on VJ http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

...and it doesn't cost any more to apply for advance parole with your AOS, so if you are considering traveling before green card issuance, apply for it. Took about 6 weeks to get it. We are traveling on it now and will report in how it goes coming back through POE SFO.

uh, just the AOS package with AP and EAD...

Do you really need a lawyer for that? (just asking) .

If you file soon, she could have AP in about 4 months (maybe) , certainly GC within 5 months.

IMO, the GC trumps all, can get back into USA easily.

BUT - will she need a visa to UK as a Vietnamese citizen? Check with the UK Embassy, see what's up.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
