Counseling is it needed?

Hello Everyone,

We just recently recived the visa packet and my fiance said that on one of the sheets it talks about counseling. We were not to sure if it was requried? It says that counesling and a few other things are needed before going to America. It does not say that it is mandatory. So we were not to sure if we need to do it or not. Can someone help?

hello! congratulations! yes, the counseling is mandatory. philippine immigration will not allow your fiancee to leave the country unless the stamp that certifies you have undergone counseling is on the passport. i suggest she goes to st. mary's (not sure of the name, it's the one in quezon city since this is a one-stop shop).

Congratulations!!! It will just take her half day to accomplish the seminar. She won't be able to leave the country without the sticker from the CFO. Here's the website:

When I did my counseling, they asked some of our photos together and divorce decree of my fiance. Good luck and congratulations again!!!

YEs, she needs to attend what they call a "counseling" session, which is conducted by the CFO. The CFO is a branch of the Philippino government that makes all Philippino going abroad to attend one of their debriefing sessions. The session quite honestly is a waste of time and a headache. Your K1 will need to pay some more pesos, 250? bring copies of her paperwork - exact paper work can be found on their web site, and she needs to call them ahead too. In the end she will get a stamp in her passort from them that she attended the session. Without it she can't exit the country. That's right, the VISA is not enough because it was issued bu the US Embassy. Now the Philippino government one more time wants to examine everything. Like I said, it's really an uneccessary red tape but she has to do it. Did you get a letter informing you where it is and directions?

Yep she need to attend. 250 pesos for the seminar and I think 400 pesos for the CFO sticker.

I have a friend at friendster without CFO sticker she was able to go here in US without the sticker but it's not advisable.

I have also a friend who resheduled her flight because the CFO sticker. 2008 she went to US but she didn't get married with her former fiance, she fell inlove with another American and he petitioned her.

She went to the seminar a day before her flight because she is from the province. Since this is her second petition for k1 they asked for a written letter coming to her fiance stating that he will marry her which was not included to the requirements. So what they did was to reschedule her flight even she has 2008 CFO sticker.
