hello; I;m Mike

I'm going to get married if all goes well at the end of February 2010. We will be Married in Lima Peru , I am a US citizen and she is from Lima (living in Brazil at the time )

From the start I think I need the following forms ,Cover index sheet I-130 , I-864 , (? I-129 ?) 4 copy's of G-325A , singularity affidavit , fiancé letter of intent ?

Do I file after I get married and go to the US Consulate in Peru , or file the I-130 package before ?

Have all the documentation for getting married in Lima. Her brother is an lawyer in Lima and is helping us.

I filed for a passport , at this time Peru visas are not required.

If any one can help us out on this we would be very grateful , Thank you in advance. Mike B and Leonor V.R

Please follow the guide: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1 , it is extremely helpful! follow all directions very carefully. If you're getting married, you file AFTER the fact...if you want to bring her over here as a fiance then get married here, you file for a K1 visa.

The CR1 visa is a conditional visa where you would have to apply just before the 2 yrs is up to remove conditions...it is for a couple that is married less than 2 yrs...

A K3 visa is basically being phased out & will take longer....I went thru this process before they started this. If I was to go thru it again, I would most definitely do the CR1 visa...

Good luck to you!!

If you are getting married soon the you will have to file after you get married. At that point you wont need the afidavit of being single or the letter of intent.

If you want your futre wife to be able to work and drive when she gets here file for the CR-1 its a (final paper wise) cheaper way to go and she will be able to drive and work when she gets to the USA. It doesnt really take any longer to do the CR-1. You cant file until you are married.Or if you do the K-1 you file first and then she comes to the USA and then you get married. Personally I think the CR-1 is a better way togo.

IF you have all your ducks in a row you can file ASAP after getting married. IT took us 6 months to the day. If you are doing direct consulate filling I hear it takes a little les time.

I got married in Peru if you have any questions PM me.

Hey Mike, just wanted to say good luck & if you need any help with anything PM me... I am planning a religious wedding in Lima (we are already legally married in the US and did the K-1 Visa). :star: I heard the K-1 visa route (fiancee) is a bit faster than the K-3 or the CR-1, but the CR-1 is quite convenient since you don't have to be bothered with the extra paperwork *and money* of adjusting status once you're in the US.

If you need any advice or anything, feel free to let me know.

Suzy

Thank you for all the input , I'm getting my forms together for the state side USCIS and getting paperwork ready for Lima. Right now Leonor is in Brazil and just got her CFP papers from the consulate there and will be flying back to Lima in Febuary a few weeks before I get there. To start with her brother thats a Lawyer. I'm leaning tward the CR1 forms , looks like that will work best for me. A big help at the moment is a list of what forms I need. even after reading through the USCIS site I'm still a little confused about it. Mike and Leonor, best wishes to all
