I actually got constipated the first time I went to the Philippines. Go figure with all the exotic fruits available. One thing I did learn about the Philippines is that their paper products like napkins and TP have a lot to be desired so I started carrying wet wipes and continue to do so to this day.

We drank a lot of San Miguel and the Wild Turkey I brought for my friend. You can't find WT in Cagayan

Oh, wow, that's an attack on 1/2 the population is I've ever heard one. It's a good thing you're from the south where it's more civilized and modern. Too bad it's still a "developing" country where you're from...

I got a serious case of mud butt the first two times I went to Rio. But like I said earlier, the composition of each nations water supply is different, so for a lot of people, that can lead to mud butt, no matter how industrialized it is. I get it in Canada occasionaly, and that is by no stretch a 3rd world nation.

I'm not attacking anyone, just saying how things are. The country will always be developing and most likely will never be as well developed as USA and continue being third world. I'm not saying we from the South are better, just that down there things are a bit more evolved, higher education rate, less poverty, etc.

This poll is hilarious.

Reminds me of when I spent a month in West Africa after college. We were told not to drink the local water or we'd face the consequences. Well, after the first week, I got tired of spending so much on bottled water, so I opted to suffer the consequences & save $$.

Water in Brazil doesn't give me the runs, and the water tastes better than in some parts of the US.

Nessa, the south may have a higher average wealth, but IMO it's less that the people are overall better off given the disparity between rich and poor is greater in the south and that the majority of the wealthy live in the south. Brazil as a whole is infamous for this - nearly 75% of the wealth is held by 10% of the population and the poorest 10% hold less than 1% of the wealth - and there are only a handful countries worse than Brazil in the world as far as wealth distribution goes (Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Bolivia). But I shall stop rambling, because this is highly off topic.

Hey FYI

My husband was accustomed to different water, when he first moved to the US he got sick from our tap water, and our tap water is totally potable. Some people just happen to have a harsher reaction to water than others.

I don't think it's a 100% foolproof either way.

Yeah, no question. China is bad. The first time I went, when I met Lisa, there were 20 of us from the University of Utah. Three of us spent time in the hospital by the end of the 6 weeks, getting IV fluids and antibiotics. I had them for maybe 5 1/2 of the 6 weeks (three days in the middle where I thought I was feeling better, then it came back) and all the tours we went on SUCKED. We learned you bring your own toilet paper with you everywhere you go real fast.

And when I moved back to China, I was okay for the first 2 weeks, by avoiding the student cafeteria and eating only street food and food cooked by my future mother-in-law. But between week 3 and 6, it was pretty bad. For the next 12 months or so, though, everything normaled up and I guess I had a resistance to all but the occasional badly handled meat dishes.

Wow, God Bless the USA. I loved China, but that part... not so much.

I wish I had saved it, but after a few years in China it didn't seem unique any more so I threw it away, but I had a toilet paper wrapper that bragged the contents were tenacious.

I never got the runs in China, or at least no more than usual, but I never ate steet meat and I never drank water except from the bottle. But I did cook and clean with the water, unlike a lot of my friends.

I like you description. Mud butt kinda explains the visual part.

You gota ask the question why people in those countries has big butts.

I got a serious case of mud butt the first two times I went to Rio.
