This is where I am a little confused. Do I need to fill the same forms out as me for the kids to get their Permanent Residence too, has anyone with kids been through this?

Hi Alison,

Yes, you need to do a separate I-485 for each child, as well as a separate I-864 (Affidavit of Support) for each child. The info is the same, just that they each need their own documents. At least that is my understanding. We submitted ours for my husband and his son in January and are off to our interview this week with no RFE's (so far).

If I may, I personally think it is also a good idea to find a way to submit these documents in a folder together (ie, K2(s) documents in the same folder as the K1's) so they don't become separated unless someone makes an effort to separate them. We used one of those heavy, 3-part medical folders with ACCO fasteners at the top of each section. I am not sure of the mechanics of USCIS's routing, etc.., but we ended up with biometrics scheduled together and interview scheduled together, which is ideal, imho. I'm not saying packaging this way guarantees that, but somehow I think it helps....

Best wishes!

Maya

PS also separate fees for each app

Edited to add: I notice from your timeline that you just got married!! Congratulations! :jest:

Yes I got married last Saturday, boy it was so hot and typical of me to choose that date/weekend where the weekend before and after was much cooler.:D Ah well, it's over and done with now.

So I'm just trying to get everything ready and accurate before we send them off.

Thanks for your help.

Alison.

If the children are age 14 or older you need to include the G-325A and the $70.00 biometrics fee too.

My daughter is 10 and my son is 4 years old.
